Hi folks!

I bought a used center stand for my 2014 Valkyrie from a biker friend. After watching a few videos on YouTube, I was expecting a real struggle when it came to hooking up the spring. But, I found it was rather easy.

I used two screwdrivers. One flathead and one Robertson. I hooked the spring onto the peg attached to the bike, then I used the Robertson screwdriver like a lever by hooking the other end of the spring to it. I then positioned the end of the Robertson screwdriver on to the kickstand (over the pin on it)and slowly moved it so that the spring end moved down the screwdriver towards the attachment point of the kickstand. At the end of this maneuver, the spring end is still hooked to Robertson screwdriver but in the correct position once the Robertson screwdriver is removed. So, all you do is pin the spring end in place using the flathead screwdriver, and slowly wiggle/pull the Robertson screwdriver out and away. And, Bob's your uncle.

It might take you a few tries to get it, but it is not as hard as some say it is. Oh, and I did not use any pennies or quarters as suggested on YouTube. I truly don't think you need them or anyone to help you.

I hope this helps someone else.

Later,

Murray

BTW, I've had this bike for about two weeks. I absolutely LOVE IT! (it's not perfect... but damm close... just like me)   Wink

I just installed the center stand and exhaust shield.

Center stand installed with one 'oh darn' spoken because I bolted on the stand before I put the spring pin into the frame.

Upper cowl reinstallation required 5 bad words directed at Honda engineers and two timeouts for bad behavior.

Regarding the left exhaust cover, remove the 2 nuts and 1 bolt, then lower the front part of the cover about an inch to clear the front bracket, then pull the cover forward another inch to clear the 2 rear brackets.

Love my Valk, but all the dang plastic, pins and hidden brackets make access so much harder than on my bike from the manufacturer that shall not be named.

Thanks to all the people that figured this out and took the time to provide wisdom.

p.s. Why is the bolt on right side of center stand left hand threaded given that the stand pivots both ways?

Best, Terrell
