My F6B may get replaced by a Yamaha

I read the article and comments about the Yamaha on Rider's website early this week. I do think it's a very nice looking bike. Lot of comments on the price, versus what you get for your money with the Goldwing and BMW K1600. Also, current and former Venture riders commented that they were not happy with the air cooled V-Twin as the power plant.  They would have preferred the V-MAX watered cooled V-4, like the former Venture.

At the end of the day the Yamaha is an air cooled V-Twin and really not comparable to the Goldwing, F6B or BMW. I test rode the Victory Vision and Indian Chieftan when they were released. Although they're both big V-Twins with plenty of torque, I did not feel that the throttle response and acceleration were comparable to my Valkyrie. Goldwing and F6B riders might find the new Yamaha lacking in the performance ride department. That said, Gary C went from a Goldwing to the Indian Chieftan. He'd be good to talk with about making a switch to a big air cooled V-Twin.

I hear ya Tony.   
After 30K miles I was close to trading the F6B for an Indian because I am so unhappy with the F6B ride.  Most of the bike is good and I have changed enough to get along well on it, BUT there are soo many things I want in the bike that Honda doesn't offer. I was thinking a full Wing but unless Honda makes some big changes for 2018 I will skip over Honda and make a change to another Manufacturer.

I sat on the Venture and spent time with the sales rep and although it has much more than I want, it does have everything I am after. The engine is the same as the Roadliner with a few upgrades such as dual Alternators and very good counter balancers. There is no vibration on that new Venture at an idle.

I believe Yamaha stuck with that engine and a Belt Drive vs Liquid cooling and single side swing arm  to get the platform out in the market with a low enough price because they dumped a ton of money into the electronic technology.

I do need to ride one first. Sitting on it and starting the engine does little for me other than give me a break from walking around Lake George.

For that "starting price" I could have bought two 1997 Bumblebees. (I guess I really did buy my Valkyrie 20 years ago, prices have gone way up.)  I stubbornly keep it because it's one of the few things from my youth that still works.

$27,000.00 is a lot of money. I paid $17,000 for my first house but of course I am OLD.
