Author Topic: New water pump leaking  (Read 994 times)

Help, I replaced my entire system, but the new water pump will not stop leaking, bottom lefthand corner, removed it ten times all looks good, large o ring is seated in as it should, what I am I doing wrong

Are you sure that it is leaking from the water pump. Common leak is from the upper radiator hose where it attached to the thermostat housing. Tightening the hose clamp usually fixes that.

Thanks, I also replaced the upper hose, I also thought that and went back and retightened it, I also did a test, I wrapped a rag around the top and ran the engine, still leaked out of bottom bolt, I have it off on 10 times I am at my wits end

Final

This was not fun, I removed the water pump at least a dozen times, the final time, Yep Snap goes the top left bolt, had to be the hardest to drill, after about 10 hrs drilling taping, praying  I used a 5/16 std course and finally no leaks, never want to touch another water pump.
