Digital tach hookup for setting pilot jets ?

OK folks, I have a new Actron digital trouble shooter meter Model CP7677, it does have a tach function for 4, 6, & 8 cyl. engines. I want to set my pilot jets. Where do i connect this meter in the wireing. At the coils to a y/w, y/bl, y/r, trigger wire or at the ECM on the y/g that goes to the tach? Actron manual is not clear on this and there so called tech adviser did not know either. The OEM Honda manual does not say as far as I can tell. Please don't advise me on piolet jet settings. I just want to know where to hook up this tach. Thanks...Happy Fathers Day

After taking a look at the manual for your meter I don't think it's a good choice for what you want to do. Not only due to it being more difficult to use for RPM measurement but also the resolution will be quite low.
The meter does not use an inductive pick-up, instead triggering from the ground side of the ignition coil.
The meter also assumes there is one coil providing spark to all cylinders (requiring you to select 4, 6 or 8 cyl.). The Valk has three coils, each providing spark to two cylinders (a bit more complicated than just the number of coils but I won't get into that here).
Last, you need to multiply the reading by 10 to get RPM (if your engine idles at 900, display will read 90). Trying to identify the small RPM changes while adjusting the mixture will be very hard with such low resolution.
That said if you're determined to try here's how:
Connect the positive probe from your meter to the Y/x wire (ground side) of any one of the coils.
Connect the negative probe to ground.
Set the meter to 4 cyl.
Multiply reading x 20 (2x due to individual coils and waste spark and 10x for meter resolution).
(Reading 45 x 20 = 900) So a 50 RPM change when altering pilot screws with show as 2 or 3 on the meter.
You can try the wire from the ICM to the tach and it may work, just set your meter to 6 cyl. when you try it. Even if it works resolution will still be an issue as that 50 RPM change will show as 5.
Good luck.
