On a nice ride today, my neutral slowly started to glow on, while driving in gear. Over time, it started to fully light.

Final analyses; Neutral light on in all gears. Applying front or rear brake, the light will go out. Speed has nothing to do with it. Hit a bump, and I saw the light go out. I have also seen it go back out, then slowly light up again. Brake light functions as it should.

It's my daily driver. It was out in the rain on Thursday. Most likely the longest time since I bought it.

I think I checked the wire from the neutral switch, and followed it only a short distance, till it was lost within the IS plastic.

Next, I'll be looking over the wire schematics and the fiche, to see which connectors it might be.

I suspected a melting wire. Not found (yet). But with the brake now coming into the picture, who knows. Now I suspect a wet connector. But it took about 1.5-2.5 hrs of riding today, before it developed. Volt meter on bike, shows constant 14.1v.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for any help offered.  Valhalla & InZane trip starting this coming Friday (6 days).

Neutral light comes on by making ground at the switch. So power to the light. Then follow the ground side to the neutral switch, and it takes the Lt green/black wire to the neutral diode, then to the switch. Now still trying to find how the brake lights come into affect. It does show the same black/blue power wire for the tail/stop lights going to the neutral power. But this wouldn't allow the light to ground to come on.

Sounds kinda like what trailer lights do when you have a grounding issue.

Yes, I think I've heard that before.

I do have a hitch, and will be running my trailer to the rallies. I did plug it in last weekend (moved the wires) to insure it was working. But it wasn't plugged in when this happened.

My previous IS, I had to replace the module, just before I sold it, as it wasn't grounding properly.

I agree-that sounds like a bad ground issue.

I think you've got a wet connection that is letting it find a path to ground.

I had something similar happen during an all day ride in a downpour (over 500 miles!)  Collection of connections in a boot under the right neck cover was wet and the side-stand light was coming on.  As with yours, would be dim then brighten.

I was suspecting this item.

http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,25289.0.html

That connector in the IS under/around the battery box.

Upon searching on this problem, most seem to be this issue.

I'm going to need a second set of eyes, then get under the bike and find that harness section, and pull/wiggle it, and see if the light changes. Along with the 4 Pin connector in the r side neck, pull it and see if it's still lit.
