I just bought 4 quarts of  10/40 Amsoil from my Indie Harley Shop. (Insert Harley joke here). Prints on the label, Metric Motorcycle oil. All the other Amsoil 10/40 I ever bought it just prints High Performance Engine& Transmission Lubricant. Wet clutch Compatible. What? So now it is Metric Motorcycle oil? What about before  the label change?? Roll Eyes

Maybe it's a liter and not a quart.

It does shift easier and quieter with this new "metric oil". More a click than a clunk. I like it. cooldude

Same result with changing to Mobile 1  20w50 V-Twin oil for the hot summer months. Quieter smoother shifts

IIRC harleys use different oils for different functions.  eg. engine oil vs. tranny oil.  The metric designation likely means compatible with wet clutches since metrics use one oil for engine & tranny & clutch afaik. Something about "long chain polymers" and molecule shearing issues with the clutch IIRC. Pretty sure harleys use a dry clutch?  Guessing somewhat.

I've been buying 10/40 Amsoil for my bikes for years (around 10), and it's always been labeled as motorcycle oil.

http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/motor-oil/gasoline/premium-protection-10w-40-synthetic-motor-oil/?code=AMOQT-EA

basically same as

http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/motor-oil/motorcycle/10w-40-synthetic-metric-motorcycle-oil/?code=MCFQT-EA

people pay more because it says MOTORCYCLE on label.
I was a dealer yrs ago before they even had the motorcycle label bottle. sales for motorcycles took off once it had the new label.

Harleys are wet clutch unless it's changed to an open dry clutch.
