Due to the flooding in Grand Forks, we have changed our Valhalla Rally to Merritt BC. Hope you'll join us there.

I've contacted the hotel, and reserved it whole for us.

http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,95895.0.html

I'm waiting on more information, and will post on the link as I get more information.

Reserve your rooms fast, before the one you want is gone.

I got the rates today, they are about $15 less than the current high season rate, but we need a min of 12 rooms. Currently at 9.

Bump!

Some wanted to extend the weekend, so instead of the usual 3 days, we added on Thursday June 21, to make it 4 days now.

When we used to be in New Denver, we would meet up Thursday night in Kelowna for an informal dinner with Dennis. Then ride out in the morning as a group to the Valhalla Inn.

I'm booked in.   I'll check the board a little more often to see who's coming.  Looking forward to meeting you all.  I was at new Denver a few times.

Flooding Grand Forks. Rally is currently up in the air for this location.

I've currently found a hotel in Kamloops, that had 23 rooms still available, and we had booked 20 rooms. But if we change locations, we need to move fast to book the rooms.

Mike (msb) and I have both called, no answer. I figure they've been evacuated, and maybe they might be more interested in their personal homes.

I'm going to see if email might work better. They can check that from anywhere.

But if the buildings have been wet, then they need to be gutted and repaired. I know this from experience with other floods that have happened to family. One month wont be enough when a whole town has been hit. It would take 100-1000s of people to rebuild that town.

I hope they are OK, and want to support them with our Rally, and the community, but if they can't put us all up, then it looks like a no go.

I was through there on saturday may 12> Johnnys and the motel next to it still had water up past the door bottoms. With the way the weather is I would say they are in for further flooding.

Thanks guys, I would say so too. It's now confirmed, water inside the buildings.

Mike was looking at Princeton BC. Further for the guys coming from the east. Just need to start calling hotels and seeing if they have accommodations for 20 rooms.

Princeton is a couple hours further west from GF. Hope is another option...another 1.5 hours or so. Am looking at options. Kamloops or Merrit would work as well. Are you US guys up for going a little further North but staying further West?

Hey all...I've located a decent hotel in Merritt BC...the Quality Inn. Check it out here...it looks pretty nice for this motley crew.
https://www.choicehotels.ca/en/quality-inn-merritt-hotel-cna21

We can get up to 20 rooms, singles & doubles at a group rate of 83.00 (a bit less I think for a single). That's CANADIAN $$ for our US friends...so you all will have lots left to buy us poor Canucks some really expensive gifts for our gift exchange  2funny

Merritt is high and dry, and central to many GREAT riding routes that are different from what this group has done in the past. Merritt also tends to be on the dry side, with respect to June weather.

Breakfast is included with this group rate...they are OK with the fire pit in the parking lot...they have a deck where we can gather, as well as a restaurant with a large meeting room we can use if it rains (hopefully it won't)....approx. 6 hour ride from Spokane; 4 hours from Seattle; 8 hours from Calgary; your Valk will hardly get warmed up from the  Okanogan or Lower Mainland BC; and for you Jason coming from Saskabush...it really doesn't matter if its longer because you need to put km's on that BRAND NEW WING of yours!!!

So, hopefully all will read this in the coming days...please let me know if thumbs up or thumbs down. I can probably wait a day or two (until Wednesday) before confirming with my new friend Jasmine there at the Q-Inn in Merritt if we want to book.
Any questions reply here or send me a PM Cool Cool

Cheers, msb (Mike)

Rooms at Quality Inn in Merritt are confirmed for June 21-24 and can be reserved at 250-378-4253 under "Valhalla Rally". 5 single King rooms, 5 single Queen rooms and 9 double Queen rooms...all at the same rate of $83.00 Cdn.  Breakfast is included served in onsite Restaraunt. These rooms are held until June 4. If you have to cancel your reservation , 72 hours notice. Nice place with everything we need and more...good location just out of town.
Don't forget to cancel your room at Johnnys .

Johnny's is at the bottom right. No way will they be restored by June 21, 2018.
We'll have to plan on it next year. They ought to be all bright and shiny new then.

Hey all... just to let everyone know, 18 of our 20 blocked rooms at the Quality Inn in Merritt have been filled. So 2 rooms left, which will be held until June 4. So if you're  coming and haven't booked a room yet , or know of someone else who may want to join us.. now's the time.
If we need extra rooms I can try to get a few more. Let me know
