Ok, this is going to be a little long so bear with me. My 99 Tourer won't start. That's the short of it, now for the long part. You store the bike inside, in my basement. I put I away in early December. Over the winter I had a workshop/ man cave built out back. As soon as the weather permitted and the ground firmed up enough to move the bike out of the basement, I did exactly that. I believe it was early April. I took the battery out of my 2001 Intersate and dropped it in the Tourer, after a little cranking, the Tourer fired up and I brought it up to its new home, where it sat untouched till last week. The rims were out getting powder coated and once I got them back, I had new rubber mounted and put the rims with new rubber on th bike. Before I did that I had stripped all the extra lights and radio and amp that I had added years earlier. The plan was to get this bike to its most minimal state. I purchased and installed a new battery, and tried to fire her up. All I got was a couple of fires but no starting. It fires when I first hit the starter, then just turns over' but will not start.i suspected the battery wasn't up to snuff so I looked at the plugs to see if they were firing, which they all were. The plugs appeared to be dry, as if they weren't getting any fuel. I figured bad gas, so I drained the tank and filled it with new fuel. Same result. I thought maybe I need to drain the bowls, so I did that. Same result. I pulled th tank and fed Techron into the bowls directly through the fuel line, let it soak for awhile and then drained it, reinstalled the tank with the new fuel. Same result. It fires initially and maybe runs for 5 seconds although barely. I can't touch the throttle or it dies. If I have the choke open it will not fire at all. It is as if the choke is not supplying fuel to the pistons, or just barely. Could this be? What puzzles me, is it started and ran fine after sitting from December till April, yet it would not start after sitting from April to July. I think I am looking at a carb rebuild. What do you all think?
