My kind of 3D High Def

Abbotsford, BC

« on: July 29, 2017, 03:45:16 PM »

Sitting in my office on this sunny Saturday, writing up an inspection report, I watch out the window as motorcycle after motorcycle roll on by....

At about 3:45 a group of 4 went by (16th Ave in West Abbotsford), one of them a trike, and one a Valkyrie.  cooldude  coolsmiley

Was it you?

Not me. But if you saw someone Friday going by up Hwy 1 to Spences and over to Merritt, then it might have been me and my mistress out for a day ride.

Nice, but smokey east of Hwy 1, till I hit Hope again.

Hi paul, long time no hear. So does this mean you are back, or still coming here? I thought you would be in Hawaii by now.

Hey Gord,
Got home from my month US ride and left the next day for Hawaii. Got home from Hawaii on Tuesday and leave Saturday for Oregon (watch the eclipse). Get home Wednesday and leave Thursday for eight days on the sailboat (cruise around the Gulf Islands with the grandkids).
I'm considering making the run up to Grand Forks but haven't talked to Alison about it yet. If I go, I will probably ride up on the 16th and return on the 17th.

Be nice to see you in Grand Forks, Paul. We have a nice little group going... gonna be a blast.
Did you finally get your fuel starvation issue solved this time out?

Yes. The problem was solved by removing the after market fuel filter and shortening the fuel line to the T, removing the loop that had formed by adding the in-line filter. This trip was a true challenge to see if it was indeed fixed. We rode the full length of Death Valley, north to south. The temp at 7:30 in the morning was 49 degrees C (120 F) reaching 53 degrees C (127 F) by the time we started climbing out of the valley. Vegas was 49 degrees C the day we were there as well. With these temps, I'm sure the issue is fixed. I'm grateful to the members of this board who chimed in with their ideas and suggestions. They were spot on with their diagnosis.

Left Lone Pine at 5:00 am. At Furnace Creek we headed south down through Badwater and came out at Shoshone (lunch). Then up to Pahrump and then over to Vegas by early afternoon. We were in the heat that day around seven hours.
When riding in the heat I wear a pair of cotton hiking pants and a t-shirt. I slather my arms, neck and face with sunscreen and all is good. I have no idea how guys ride in the heat wearing full leathers. It would kill me!!!!
I was pleasantly surprised with our entire three weeks in Nevada, Arizona and Utah. Last time I was there the daily highs were well over 115 but this trip we saw daily temps between 100 and 110 (except in Death Valley and Vegas). It was a really good trip; perfect weather, amazing scenery, good food and met great people. Win, win, win!

Like I say. One tough Canuck  cooldude 7 hours in that is not easy. Yeah, it really wasn't too bad this year. Usually we seem to get some extended 120* stretches. Just a few days this year. Glad you had a good trip  cooldude
