caliper rebuild

 I'm in the middle of rebuilding my calipers and there was a bent thin metal piece that goes on the bracket. Similar to the spring pad on the caliper itself. When I try to look it up on Honda's parts list it doesn't show up. Does anyone know if this is a part they quite using?

It is number 6 if on the front and 3 if the rear.  Look at a parts breakdown on Partzilla or Procaliber and you can see where it is situated.

 Thanks for the reply but it's not number 6. It is similar to that but it goes with the bracket. After some more research it seems I may have calipers from an interstate on my custom ??? When I look up 2000 interstate it comes with the bracket #8 or 16. But of course not sold separately. I hate it when I end up with someone else's bastard setup. Now I need to try to figure out what else is off of a interstate if anything.

Either way you do need that spring.  The pads will rattle around without it.

  Thanks again Chris. It also looks like the pads may be able to come free without it. For anyone else that may go thru this the same part is listed for the 2000 gl1500c, and is sold separately there for under 5 bucks. Another 3 day wait on shipping of course. By the way mine is a 2003 gl1500cd.

I had that problem with the pads rattling on one front caliper and the spring (is the item) which is supposed to stop that kinda stuff. This is how I fixed the problem with the rattling.
I cut a short length of plastic/rubber hose, like gas line or vacuum hose, and installed it between the brake pad plates to hold them apart. I don't know how long a piece I cut, I just eyeballed it to make sure it pushed the plates apart with a little pressure. I slid the piece of hose, on to the pin, and between the plates. It will not affect the operation of the brakes in the slightest and it has been working now for years and through a few brake pad replacements.
Just thinking you may entertain this as an option to replacing the spring.
