Getting the bike ready to sell.  Took off the cruise control that quit working.  Wow that was more of a job than I remembered, especially in the heat.  So in the process I loosened a connector and lost the low beams.  This morning I found that problem and changed the oil and filter and battery seemed a bit low so bought a new battery and installed that.  I suited up
to take a test ride and right away there is a problem.  Like one cylinder with a bad plug.  Long story shortened a bit, plugs didn't help and I found a crack in one of the carb cover diaphragms.  Looks like they want to sell you the whole piston/slider with the diaphragm part # 16111-MZ0-A00  I put it all back together today and am not getting back out in that heat again today.  Does anyone remember if that diaphragm is removable from the slider and can you buy just that part?  Or does anyone have a set of carbs that I can get parts from?  Or buy the whole set?  The guy that was going to buy it was going to fly in from Texas Friday and pick it up Saturday but I just called and postponed that for now.  I don't even know for sure that the hole in the diaphragm is the problem as I switched it with another cylinder and still seems to follow that original cylinder.  Cobra pipes help some in determining where the problem lies.

Bike has been desmogged, but yes still possible.  For sure there is a tear in the one diaphragm.

Its one unit. 73 bucks. Yikes. Maybe a thin coat of 100 silicone on both sides. Course seems to me you want to get it right.

The silicone or some electrical tape might be a temporary fix but be honest and discount him the $73. BTW: If one went bad, maybe the rest are weak too. I sold a valk with 155K and it had the original diaphragms.

When I reinstalled OEM needles to replace the Cobras that were in my Valk, I carelessly tore a small hole in one of the diaphragms on reassembly.  I tried (to no avail) patching it with rubber gasket sealer - but ended up just biting the bullet for a new one.  YMMV, but getting it "good enough" may not suffice in either the short- or long-term.  I don't think they wear out, but are they somewhat fragile and easy to damage. Good luck!  Terry

Thanks to all that replied.  I have located one in a spare carb bank, to pick it up this weekend.  Will see where it goes from there.

I have seen where tears have been repaired with some gorilla glue and a piece of nitrile glove.
