I have to get new tire. my rear is bubbling in at least two spots. Dunlop elite 3. came on the bike. I have only put 9,000 miles In little over a year. still has a lot of tread left. they said it was new when I bought the bike with 4,500 miles. I have been looking at other posts it seems the metzeler me880 is used commonly. has anyone used the Pirelli night dragon? it seems to be new. night dragon seems to be appropriate. always heard perelli was a very good tire manufacturer. same price. not ready to go dark side.

Pirellis are good tires. I've never heard of running a Night Dragon on a Valkyrie... The JP Cycles fitment app sez it won't fit a Valkyrie...
The 880 is know to be good and Avon Cobras are good...

Both Avon Cobras and ME 880s are great tires.
Neither will get the E3 mileage, but neither will get bubbles either (if you don't run them at 25psi).

I run with Bridgestones. Great tires, good traction and mileage about average for most MC tires.

I've had good results with Bridgestone on my Tourer so just bought f/b Bridgestone for my IS. It had the Metz 880 on it when I bought it 2 yrs ago and seemed to ride well but the rear, new at the time, only got 11 k out of it. I have gotten about 14k out of the Bridgestone on the Tourer rear and 16k on the front. My driving could be a little heavy at times on the throttle.

If you get 9-10K out of any cycle rear tire you are about average IMO. My last Avon Cobra got between 9-10K before loosing air slowly due to dozens of tiny pinholes all over had some tread left as well, but not much. A lot depends on road conditions I think more than anything else.
I doubt Pirelli, Bridgestone, Avon, Dunlop, Shinko, or Metzeler will vary much in terms of extra mileage out of one vs. the other. 9-12K tops.

Relax... you are right. I ride 95% 2 up... Old girl will eat a rear at 10K. I have had them all...... E3 has given the most mileage so far.

80% 2 up riding on my IS, Avon Cobra with 45-46 lbs rear and 42 lbs front... easily the best mileage and most even wearing tire I've run in over 15 years. Didn't like the excessive cupping I got on the 880's, or the early flat spot the E-3's (although I haven't run those in years). Obviously depends a lot on roads and conditions you run on/in, for what your preference would be
