I've read many prior posts on this baord concerning car tires. I believe Pharmboy has been using a 205-65-16 Nexen. I'd like to go with the 65 mainly for the lower rpms, if there are no rubbing issues (I believe he has said he has none). I would settle for the 60. I've already done the nut cage mod and would like to not have to do the fender rail mod. Any relevant comments and recommendations about this tire will be appreciated.  Smiley

I think for sure a 60 series will not give any rubbing problems.

With inherent variations in manufacturing the swing arms a 65 series tire will possibly rub against the swing arm since the tire moves farther into the swing arm bringing the wider part of the tire closer to where the swing arm narrows.

Another area where rubbing can occur is the inside of the fender since the tire being taller can rub on contact with the fender on whoopdeedos.

The lesser rpm's  from a 65 series is not an appreciable amount, and as a note, the motor likes the rpm's.

RPM Change at 3000 rpm, comparing the 60 to the 65. Essentially, your engine isn't going to notice the difference and neither will you.

I ride a 1999 Tourer with stock sized Avon Venoms and my friend John rides a 2000 Interstate with the Nexen 205/ 65/16 CT and there is a big difference in rpm's. If we match rpm's he quickly pulls away from me. His gas mileage has improved as well. With the nut cage mod he has no rubbing issues. Hope this helps in your decision.
