An OIL LEAK question
«
on:
August 17, 2017, 06:16:11 PM »
Several years ago my '97 Tourer developed an oil leak which appeared to be coming out of the water pump. I bought and installed a new pump, but I'm pretty sure that I discovered that the only problem was the little "O" ring inside had broken and replacing only the "O": ring will cure the leak. It was so ong ago that I'm just not SURE about that. I'm asking if anyone else has experienced this oil leak and was/is the problem cured by replacing only the "O" ring? John Moore just E-mailed me asking about the very same leak problem and I don't want to steer him wrong.
Please PM me (
justmeedp@cox.net
) with your answer and I'll get back to him ASAP.
TIA

I was wondering also.
The parts diagrams only shows the LARGE o-ring that goes around the base of the water pump.
91302-MB0-013 O-RING (32.95X2.62)
There is no o-ring showing near the slot of the water pump shaft, nor is there one showing at the end of the oil pump shaft.
If there's one in there, I don't remember, as I only replaced 1 water pump and that was 14-15 years ago.

I believe the O-ring seen in this picture is the one that if failed may allow an oil leak.

No lol. The table is molded concrete. I did use plastic golf balls to make the divots. Its actually a Hawaiian checkers board..
If you never seen one, its played with colored rocks and all the holes are filled in. Its a neat game

Thanx for all the replies. I forwarded info to John and will send him a notice to check this site. The pix Jeff displayed will be a lot of help to him.
