I need a large favor. Can anyone with Bigbikethings (crashbar located) forward controls take a few pics of how they mount on both the shifter and brake side? I recently picked up a used set (version 1) and while it did come with written instructions, they are pretty bad and a pic is worth a thousand words. The most help to me would be pics of how the square tubes up front mount to the frame and/or crash bars.

Can't help, but you do know there are two different sets. ? One set will not fit the Interstate.

2funny I don't know what to make of you DWBD.  Smiley

Harry, I wish I could help. I tried pulling up some pics, but couldn't find anything with a closeup. If by some chance you decide to take DWBD's advice, send them my way. I'll take them off your hands.   2funny Also, post this over on the general board too. Cast a wide net.  cooldude

Thanks for nothing. Next time you ask for something here I'll definitely make a mental note to ignore it. @Meathead, thanks I appreciate it Bro.

I'm telling you truthfully,return it.
It's nearly impossible to install, needs constant adjustment, never works properly, and looks terrible.
Please post some up close photos so others can form an opinion.

I am no fabricator. This set is the only game in town. Make me a set and I'll take pics and post them here with an honest opinion.  I need forwards because I am 6'6" tall on a bike built for smaller folks... end of discussion.

First find a way to magnitize an open end wrench or maybe try a gear wrench, there is no room for fingers when mounting the bathroom towel holder to the frame.
Once you spend 3 hours mounting that attach the bracket to the shift peg.
Then attach the linkage from shift peg to the actual forward control lever.
Probably another 3 hours to figure this part out, leave everything finger tight, youll be readjusting as necessary.
Once you figure where everything goes,go for a ride, youll probably notice you don't have enough travel to complete a shift, youll get neutral or a loud clunk.
Make more adjustment to shorten or lengthen the shift, probably have to add washers and or spacers to get proper operation.
After all this expect the hardware to loosen daily and require readjustment.
Double nut everything.
Enjoy

I've had 'em for 10 years, use them all the time. When I ride
the 1800, I miss them. They're awesome  cooldude

I cut the square bar short, got rid of the part on each side at the
curve... I don't use it for footpegs, just for it's clamping action...

Very cool Mike, and thanks for the pic. I am getting a good idea of how these are installed up front. I had to order some 3/8" foot peg clevis's because I am not ready to cut the square bars like you did, but it's a good idea down the road maybe. I hope to have these up and working within a week.

Made my own several years back. I am only 5'-10" so do not need as far forward as you may. i have located the control levers just to fit me. Both brake pedal and shift lever have a height adjustment and shift lever gets rid of the long gearshift arm. I use them all the time.

Looks good... good fabricator + custom fit beats the
looks of one-size-fits-all...

cant wait to see how you do the fitting Harry

Ive seen Hubcap's and if you spend lots of time on your highway pegs they may be the ticket to long rides

Personally I spend most of my highway time on the mickopegs as they really take the stress off of my lower back and hips

I have installed them on both of my main riders.   I use them constantly; after I had them in their final config they have needed no additional adjustment. I ride with my feet on the fwd pegs much more than I do on the OEM pegs.  I'd guess DWBD was in over his head trying to install them. They might be best installed by a fabricator or serious gearhead with fab ability - in my opinion the BBT fwd controls are not plug n play - they will need more setup than some such as DWBD expect. If it was my product it would have changes such as what I added, with good documentation - and perhaps a recommend to have it installed by a pro.  That might hurt it's marketability.  There are a lot of issues involved in developing and marketing products for the public and you can't please everybody - there will always be complainers.  And with the advent of the internet, such unsatisfiable people can really hurt a product and it's selling company.  I'd say STFU and give BBT a break.  He has already gotten fed up and stopped production of the product and I don't blame him.

I modified both of my BBT fwd controls to improve their functionality by adding heim joints on both sides and replaced the brake pull bar with a straight tube so it wouldn't flex. If you still need pics I can shoot some and post them.  Be specific what you want.  I'll stick some below.  Meanwhile you can watch my video on youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltgVugCRfFg
