I am gathering parts for wintertime projects and wanted to do the speaker upgrade. It seems that the Polk DB501's are no longer available. Polk is making a replacement but it has a 5.25 inch diameter. I'm not sure if these will fit. Do any of you have any feedback about how these slightly larger speakers may fit? Thanks.

I'm having the same problem. The DB501 speakers are now made of unobtanium.  My wife needs rear speakers, and I can't currently find any.  HELP!!!

Good news!! I received a "Back in stock" alert from Walmart.com yesterday for the Polk Audio db501 speakers. They are shipping directly from Beach Audio. Beach Audio's website shows having 50 pairs in stock but they are cheaper through Walmart.com.

Are they for fairing or passenger trunk speakers?

They fit the Interstate fairing and trunk with slight modifications. Just finished mine. Been riding as a SuperValk. Getting ready to install the trunk for the full sound. Still watching for a pair of good, unmodified hard bag lids to mount some larger speakers in the rear.

It looks like they have been discontinued by Polk, but there are a few places that have some yet. Amazon just made less than a dozen available. Not sure what will replace them.

Read my post below. I just received two pairs of DB501 speakers from Walmart.com last week & installed them this weekend as per Big BF's great pictures & instructions.

Thanks Gordon. That is the link which I used to do my install. I was mistaken about the source. It makes for a simple upgrade.

I installed the Polk DB501s years ago and have never been satisfied with the sound. They were added to the stock 1999 Valkyrie Interstate stereo. Is there something I can do to enhance the sound, particularly coming from the passenger speakers.

not sure on upgrade rear speakers, but am pretty sure the polk db501s are better than the stock honda front speakers on the interstate.

The stock amp lacks the power to properly drive the Polks.  I added a clarion amplifier which made it far better.

Which Clarion amp? I don't even know where to start. Since size is minimal I'd assume I'd want the highest quality in the smallest package.
