Bikes running great, no issues. Cousin came over today and wanted to hear it run, so, put the key in, turned the gas on, choke, hit the starter and nothing. No lights, no click, nothing. Deader than Oswald. So started with the battery,  fully charged. Just took the side cover of and going to check fuses. Next, the ground. Rode the bike yesterday no problem.  So now the search begins. Process of elimination.

Oh, kill switch is in the right position.  Gonna ck the starter switch to.

Not without the charger. All it does is click at the relay even with the charger on, even in the start mode. I suspect the battery took a dump? Woulda thought it would have fired with the charger on, but no.

No lights no nothing when I first tried to start it. No clunk, no attempt to start at all. So hydro lock I don't suspect. When I put the tender on it before my charger I had faint lights. With my regular charger lights are bright. Haven't cked the ground yet.

UPDATE;
Cked cylinders, they are dry. So no hydro lock.  cooldude Charger, good lights, take charger off, zilch . Don't have another battery I can use. So, still thinkin battery. Gonna finish this tomorrow.

Yes, they can. But more likely not. My money would be on dead battery, dirty starter switch, corroded starter relay. In that order.

To test the relay, bridge the two copper post on the starter relay. This connects the positive terminal on the battery to the starter motor, the same thing that's *suppose* to happen internally when you press the start button.

Everything is clean at the relay and in that area. Nothing melted either like on my first Valk. I serviced the start switch beginning of summer and no problem till now. I'll pull my pickup down there when it gets daylight and try a jump. (Truck off of course ) if she fires then off to the battery store. If not, then the switch will come apart again. I will let you guys know what the gig is, or isn't some time this morning.

Update :  Went out this morning and hooked my pickup to the bike. It turned over, but didn't start. That battery is junk, so off I go this morning to the battery store. Nuther  $130 spent but at least it isn't hydro locked!  Thanks for the suggestions guys.

not sure you use amazon.com, but Yuasa is a decent battery should last 3-6 years and find their prices are reasonable.

https://www.amazon.com/YUASA-YTX14-BS-Maintenance-Free-Battery/dp/B000WJX4BQ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1507558979&sr=8-4&keywords=honda+valkyrie+battery

under 70 bucks and with amazon prime is delivered in just 2-3 days usually.

Look under right side cover ( rear brake side ) very possible you have some " melt " around the fuse . Unhook battery and clean everything up under the cover . Corrosion on the electrical connections will definitely cause this I've seen it on several Valkyries mine being one . Mine melted the fuse I had to replace the wiring harness to the 30amp fuse. I did have a picture but can't find it right now.

First place I went Joe. All is clean, nothing melted like on my first Valk. Had battery tested by my friend at NAPA, came up junk. Should be here in a little  bit. Want to go for a ride, it's a nice day. Oh, the battery I took out was 6 yrs old.

UPDATE:
My friend at NAPA called and the battery was in. Picked it up, put it in, and she was off like a prom dress. All is good at Hooters house.

  Batteries can go bad almost instantly.  The plates inside can fracture and short out the battery in a nano second.  A battery that is working fine can 'die' in an instant .  Yes 6 years is a good life for a battery.  The original battery in my Valk lasted 9 years.  I bought the bike new.  I never let it go down to a  discharge state. Vibration is usually the reason for the plates fracturing , Valks don't vibrate . 3-4 years is a  good life for the batteries in my inline four Suzuki's and Kawasaki's.  They vibrate a lot more than that flat six.

The bike always started easily.  But when I put the new battery in I realized how slow it had actually spun over for quite a while.
