The Tourer developed a new sound today.  Thought it was exhaust or vacuum lines but no luck so far.  If you can listen to this clip and identify the problem, I'd be most appreciative.

Thanks

Does it go away when you pull in the clutch or shift into gear?

Difficult to say just listening to a sound clip but to me sounds like an exhaust leak.  Where is it coming from?  Have you tried to localize the sound using a ruler or dowel pushed up against the engine, kinda like using a stethoscope?

+1 on exhaust leak. While it could be a valve, that is less likely to be acute onset at that loudness.

We've checked the timing belts to make sure one didn't slip and screw up the valves.  Found a missing bolt on an exhaust manifold so guessing that is the problem.  Thanks for the ideas!
