Before I plan another Bacon run, I thought I'd inquire as to how many would be interested in going next year.  I'd plan on going on Saturday, March 10th, as we found out that Sodolak's is now closed on Sundays.   I've read where the Fall ride is being delayed until Spring, so I don't want to overload the ride schedule.  If you'd like to go, let me know and we'll go from there.

With no GOTF to plan around, the only weekend I see that would present a conflict for me is 20 - 22 April.  That's when MotoGP comes to Circuit of the Americas (COTA), and not coincidentally, the Hand-Built Show occurs.  I've never been to either, but plan on attending both next Spring.

Depending on nearby group lodging availability, these could present a fun "meet-in-the-middle" weekend.   coolsmiley

I've set the ride date for Saturday, March 10th.  Those Houston area riders can meet up at the same place as previous years.  That's at the Exxon on the NE corner at FM1488 @ Hwy 290.  We'll plan KSU @ 0830hrs with an ETA at Sodolak's in Snook, Tx at 1100hrs.  Those coming from other areas (DFW and Austin/SA) plan accordingly.

Bumping to the top.  Based on those who have commented on this thread, I'll call Sodolak's and give them an expected number (12) for service.  If you wish to add or delete your name, now would be the time to do so.  Hopefully, the rain will stay away.

Attention !! Attention !!  Today was a great day to ride,,temps in the low 60's, clear sky, light breeze and sparse traffic.  But I found the Exxon where we were going to meet is closed for remodel. So we'll move across the highway to the SHELL on FM1488 on S.W. corner of intersection with 290.  The weather forecast is not looking as good as today's weather.  Temps in high 70's , with a 60% chance of possibly severe thunderstorms. Perhaps this is some of RainMaker's meddling?!  If it's raining, all bets are off. And BTW, the Bluebonnets are not in bloom yet... Undecided

I'll put something together and advise.  It's a 3 hour drive by superslabs.  So plan on 4 hours to get there.

There is currently a 50% chance of rain on Saturday.  I plan to check the forum Saturday morning, prior to leaving, to make sure the ride is still on from the Houston side.

The local forecast is now calling for at least a 40% chance of rain all day, rather than just during the morning hours. I've already had one guy message me that he's a No-Go for Saturday.  The weather prognosticator also predicts rain the next weekend as well.   Undecided

DFW shows only 20% change of rain for Saturday.
So maybe a local breakfast ride or go back to bed and meet for lunch at a local BBQ, if the ride is cancelled

It has rained somewhere in our area every Saturday for the past two months.

Snook tx  8AM has 16% chance and it down to 2% and warm by noon. Looks like it could be a good spring day for a ride. I was in Snook last Friday doing the bacon thing.

My weatherchannel.com app shows the chance of rain at 50% in the morning, but dropping off by noon. So we're going to make it happen. Notice the change in meetup point in Hempstead at the SHELL now

Well, crap.  I went out to change out the clutch pivot bushing, simple, right?  Nope.  Now no pressure on the handle at all - clutch does not disengage.  I'll spend tomorrow figuring out why this 5 minute job is going to take all day.

I'm out!

Was a good day for a ride and only Charley from Livingston went thru some rain. LTD met us at the Shell and his rear end went BANG as he pulled in. He made it back down 290 to 2920 before it completely gave out and he called a tow.

Well, I was the Lone Ranger from N. Texas yesterday.  Nobody showed up at the Whataburger in Hillsboro.

So, I hot footed on to Snook where I found a bunch of Valkyries and riders from the Houston area standing around outside of Sodolak's General Store, visiting, braggin. pointing, waiting for it to open at 11:00.

After a few minutes of my excuses as to why nobody else from N. Tx, we decided FOOD was next on the agenda.

Of course we HAD to have some chicken fried bacon as an appetizer.  After all, that's what they're known for.

HUGE steaks are also part of their 'braggin' rights'.  (Pictures don't do them justice)

Oh.  Didn't get pics of everybody but I'll try to list em.

One more thing.

I am a firm believer in using turn signals.

They help prevent 'the other guy' from running your a$$ over.

If they have some idea of your intentions they may stay in their lane or slow down for your turn.

So.  Turn signals all the way down to the meet up worked normal.  After lunch, got on my bike to follow Jimmy west toward Waco...  NO TURN SIGNALS.  Didn't work from the get go while leaving parking lot at Sodolak's.

Kept trying them as I rode.  Still not working. Angry

When we got to a stop sign I asked Jimmy if my front running lights were on (they also operate as front turn signals).  He said yes but when I tried turn signals - nothing.

Neither left nor right.  And emergency flashers didn't work either.  ?

Not wonderful knowing the amount of traffic I was getting ready to tackle from Waco to Frisco.  tickedoff

  Several possibilities.  Flasher, fuse,  Undecided

Digging in to the Tupperware again  Sad

Looks like a great trip.  I really wanted to go.  Sorry about leaving you out in the cold, Tom, but I did post up about not being able to go with the clutch issue as soon as I figured out the bike was down.

Took a while but it's up and running.  3 bleedings, 1st 2 with the miti-vac and the last just pumping the handle.  Pumping the handle worked better.
