Well reluctantly I am going to the Elite III's, on my 2K Interstate. The Dunop 206s appear to be available, per Dunlop's web site, but thats just not the case. I have had great miliage from these tires in the past. But mine are both old carcasses, being from 2002. I've gone through two sets, sitting at 33k miles now.  There are D404s but they dont have a good wear record. In anycase I found the best price on the Elites is from Ebay; $335.00 with free shipping for the pair. If anybody knows of a better price, or has other pertanant info pls chime in...TIA

I've never had the experience of wearing both tires out at the same time.

Always wore the rear out first and still had more on the front to last well into the new rear.

Wear was around three rear tires to about two front tires.

Going darkside made a complete difference and now I wear out two front tires to one rear tire.

Not to mention the savings in mounting costs and rubber.

Why not try another brand.....     Avon?

Avons have ocaisonally had problems on Interstates, although I'm sure they handle well, and I personally have nothing against them. The tread pattern of the OEM Dunlops 206's didn't seem to induce any new wobles, that werent there prior to tire changes. But now looking at the Elites they have more of a sport bike pattern resembling the Avons, so who knows what my results will be. There's been a total of three Dunlops on the rear. The first wore thin, and the other two juggled with an interior patch each. But both are older tires that now seem to lack adhesion and the car tire is not an option for me. Thanks for the input!

I tried a set of E3's on my VTX and hated them.  Front never did feel right and wore out the same time at the rear, at 8k or less.  Very disappointed.   Avons handle much better on both my VTX and Valk I/S.....

I always order from Dennis Kirk and have been totally satisfied with them every time. Total for two new E3s: $316.

They also have very quick shipping (I typically get my items in one to two days with standard shipping).

Loving my E3s thus far-- good pick! For reference, my rear has about 7K on it and has at least half the tread left.

Dennis Kirk sure beats Direct Line's pricing.
I usually automatically go to Direct LIne for everything. I guess I better start shopping around too.
I also am planning on buying the Elite threes this winter. I had them on my Gl1800 Wing and they are fine tires.
Take care, Eric

My last rear EIII lasted 10 K on my IS. The Avon Cobra on now has 12200 and is almost ready to replace.  Always run with 46# pressure.

Use Direct Line's Price match policy to your advantage.... give em Dennis Kirk's prices and have em beat it.

I've always used Motorcycle Superstore. I got a set of tires (Metz 880 front, E3 rear) for $250 earlier this year. And if you're getting ready to put the bike on mothballs (like here in MN), wait till the snow flies and look local. Around here the shops start to get desperate for work, or to sell tires, and you can get some massive discounts. I just checked motorcyclesuperstore.com and for $330, you'll have E3's on your doorstep in under a week.
