Honda announce its new Goldwing today.

https://powersports.honda.com/2018/gold-wing.aspx

What we know as the F6B is now the Goldwing and the former Goldwing is now the Goldwing Tour. The Goldwing Tour is 90 pounds lighter than the former Goldwing and narrower, too. Both are 6 speed transmissions with an option for an automatic DCT. Complete redesign of the front suspension with a monoshock is a new feature, too. Base MRSP is competitive with the competion:

  • Goldwing = $23,500
  • Goldwing Tour = $26,700

Looking forward to seeing it in person.

 Cool

Agreed! It won't be arriving in dealers until February 2018 at the earliest.

I've been waiting for Honda to make another Flat 6 that I could get excited about as a replacement for the Valkyrie. Up until now, I was not excited about the offerings. But now, yes very excited!

I'm a bit reluctant to buy the first model year, but this could be it. Since Sherry is now riding, she's fully supportive of a purchase, which is a big help. She'll want the Tour model. The Motorcycle.com article states that Honda will offer a removal kit for the trunk. That's a nice option to have. We'll see. Looking forward to seeing it at the dealer.

Great to hear your wife is still riding with you and enjoying it. She will love the Wing as it's a great bike for a passenger.  I would not hesitate on a 1st year model. When the 2001 model came out they were pretty much trouble free. It was a few years later when they had frame cracking issues and overheating problems. You can get an extended warranty for a full 8 years and you don't have to get the warranty from the dealer you buy from. Shop on line for a deal. Even shop on line for bikes and maybe do a fly and drive down south and save thousands.

Dan, is it the Gold Wing or Gold Wing Tour for you?   Cool

Lots of chatter about highway pegs on various GW forums. I'm sure some after market company will figure it out. Even though I'm short, I still use the highway pegs on the Valkyrie to stretch out occasionally.

I'm looking hard at the Tour model and removing the Trunk unless needed for a trip.  The Standard model will have me shelling out $1600 for the addition of a trunk.

And lucky for me I like the Blue.

I'm thinking about the Tour also. Both are more money than I ever would have imagined I'd spend on a motorcycle. But then I thought, I've ridden the Valkyrie for 17 years. If I ride the GW Tour for the same amount of time, I'll be in my late 70s. It will probably be my last bike, so might as well get what I want.

This is from a Motorcycle Live Show in Birmingham UK

The trunk will take 2 full face Large helmets, we tried it, but the helmets weren't flip front and they didn't have any Bluetooth units fitted on the side.
