trying to remove rear wheel to find what the knock/grind is - 2000 interstate with over 230k - five prong hub is sticking to the pumpkin and i'm not strong enough to bang it all back together to get the wheel off.  used to be able to do this (7th car tire) but this time the job is about to make a grown man cry.  pretty pitiful, i know.  so,  is there anyone that would be near fort smith arkansas in the coming weeks or months that might want to stop by to supervise for awhile?

Bill,
You probably know this, when I remove the brake caliper bracket and spacer from the left side I reinstall the axle, this will keep everything lined up and make the drive flange come out of the pumpkin.

o my gosh - worked perfectly!  i am a junk yard mechanic, used to getting into trouble and then working my way out, so i greatly admire mechanics that actually know how things work and know what they are doing.  thank you so much.  now i will find out what needs replacing .  i just bought a v strom that is probably going to be me main ride, but it would be nice to continue my 3000 miles trips on the valk once a year.  thanks again!

If nothing else works, remove the four final drive nuts and pull the whole thing.
