Thought it was the u-joint but the splines have gone south. Was 50 miles from the house on a week ride. Got it home am dead in the water until I can find some parts. Unless someone has some spares, it's off to the local dealership. A question comes to mind: is there any real difference between the '97-98 models and the '99-03s?  Thanx in advance

Shaft and spline cup all years are the same.

Good grief, don't go to a dealer for parts or repairs if you can help it. Order it online, Procaliber.com is my personal selection.

Shaft, propeller  40201-MZ0-A00    $49.07
Joint, pinion       41410-MN5-000      35.87

Usually free shipping over $99.

SO........I have all the parts and had to wait  since I thought I had the 3 O-rinds in stock but did not. While ordering them, I also thought to re-order the u-joint boot since the bike is 20 years old with 92k on the clock. what I cant find is a torque spec for the pinion joint cup. Anyone know that one?
