Welcome to the board. You are probably the only one who has an 89 Valkyrie.  Lol.  Just take off the front of the headlight ( two screws) the rest is obvious.

That is as long as the 89 model is the same as the 97-03 ones.

Aaww c'mon guys....like you never made a typo?  Grin  Come to think on it a time or two, even if it's an '89 Honda of some sort I'll bet the method of changing the bulb hasn't changed much. It was pretty much the same on the '84 Wing I just rebuilt.

For the record, there's a phillips head on each side of the outer ring about 4 & 8 o'clock position. Remove those and pull the bottom of the ring first, then a slight lift to detach it at the top. The lamp comes out with it....I'd suggest laying a towel on the front fender before starting all this. Unplug the lamp, pull off the rubber cover and you'll see the springy clip that holds the actual bulb in place. After releasing that the bulb lifts out. If you replace it with another Halogen, DO NOT touch the bulb with bare fingers, seems to create a hot spot from the oils left behind and burns out sooner. Look elsewhere on the Tech Board for suggestions on replacing the Halogen with an LED.

We was just pokin at ya  about the '89 we knew what you ment. I have only replaced the one in my '97 once in 20 yrs and I went with the OEM. Now in my IS I put silver star ultras in it. I recently bought one of Josh's light kits and put an LED in my standard cooldude

I manufacture a bracket that allows the LED DayMaker Headlights to be installed very easily into our Valkyries.

Email me ValkyrieJosh@gmail.com for more info.
