So, we need to have another wrench party for the Houston area.  Phyllis has agreed to host it again.  We'll be there on November 14.  Start time is TBD, but expect it to be around 9 AM.

This one will be a little more family friendly than the last one.  If you have a significant other who isn't interested in the wrenching, but still interested in socializing, this is the one!  I'll be bringing Stephanie and Shelley along.  Come one, come all!

If you need directions, holler to me or Phyllis by email.

Well I'm sorry but I won't be able to make it  Sad That is opening weekend and I really need to kill something. I'll try to lessen the forest rats of east Texas by at less 3. Need to make the roads safer for fellow bikes and all. I'm just about finished my own little wrenching party, timing belts, intake o rings, valve adjustment, new brakes all the way arround plus new goldwing rotors up front. Plus changing all fluids.

Ya'll don't forget about the wrench party coming up.  One week from tomorrow.  We'll have two carb synch guage sets available.  I'll be doing a shifter seal replacement, and apparently Fred will be doing a complete teardown and rebuild (OK, not quite, but he has a rather long list).  We'll have some guests in from Dallas.
I'm planning to bring the family out this time.  Any other non-wrenchers ought to come out and just spend the time visiting.

This should be a good one.  I'll see ya'll then.

We had 17 bikes at our wrench party last weekend.  You guys can't possibly find enough mechanically inclined Valkyrie riders in Houston to match that.......

Gauntlet thrown.

Just because you had 17 bikes, doesn't mean you had 17 mechanically inclined folks.  I mean, one of them was yours, right?

Gauntlet kicked back.

HA! HA! HA! 2funny That was good.  Nice comeback.  Yes, one of those was mine.

Actually, everyone did something to their bikes and had Flyboy teach us how to sync carbs.  As for mine, I only had to do some headlight adjustment work, which took about 10 minutes. Since I normally keep my I/S in tip-top condition, I mostly help others with their repairs.  The last big job I did was mounting a new front tire on Speedo's bike, but I did that in my garage as I have a bead breaker, compressor and tire irons to do that kind of work.

Of course, there are areas I know nothing about, like alternator replacement......

I'd like something that resembles a headcount.  Along with the burgers, we're planning to pick some (good!) stuff up from a local restaurant, and I want to know how much to order (Wizard wants leftovers, but not tons of them).

I've spent much of the day today cleaning and sweeping the "barn", will continue on the morrow.  Don't make all this unfamiliar labor go to waste!!  Come on Down!

Yeah, if anyone needs a new alternator, bring it along.  I'll swap it out in my sleep.

Bandit, John, Kim, Rose, and any other out of towners, come on down.  It'll be great to have ya'll.
Fred, I was just poking at you.  It sounds like you have a big job ahead of you, but it also sounds like it's all preventative stuff, so that's good.  We'll do whatever's left that we can get around to.

Phyllis:  Stephanie, Shelley and I will be there.  We'll talk soon about what food we can bring to help out.

we will also have a few door prizes if that tempts anyone.   Nothing major, but everyone likes a chance at winning, right?  No raffle, just door prizes.

i know rose has an oil change in mind for her bike.  i think mine might be due for one, as well, so i'll try to look up my maintenance records and have supplies handy for that.

SteveP, Bring DOT 4 brake fluid for brakes and clutch.  And brake pads, of course.  We have a few extra oil filters, though.

So, now Dag is a jerk, too?  I'm honored to be in the best of company.

Or RainMan is (he posts on the general board). I'm RainMaker.

If any of you Houston folks are in the far northeast DFW area on Thursday nite, the DFW VRCC will be eating bbq at Flyboy's for their monthly meeting.  Come on by and share in the vittles.

I live on the Texas Gulf coast all my life. I remember Hurricane Carla in 1961 and we lost everything in our house as it was completely under water. I missed my tenth birthday that year.  tickedoff  In 2008 Hurricane "Ike" wiped me out again and I missed another birthday.. Angry .LOL..I hope I don't miss anymore birthdays!!!!!!!!!  laugh

Where do you live in Kemah?  My buddy Harvey lives in Seabrook (other side of the bridge) down the street from the Dairy Queen and just past the little league ball field.  He had 5 feet of water in his house.  This past New Year's Eve, me and another buddy hung all of the sheetrock in his house.  What a party!  This past Saturday evening, we just attended a block party for their small neighborhood because most people have returned to their rebuilt houses.
I hope you have recovered from all of that mess by now.....
