Corinth, Texas

« on: December 21, 2017, 06:29:45 PM »

Let's hear 'em.

If you're suggesting a RTE destination, please confirm it will be open before posting.

Route planning will follow.

Current forecast is for a high in the mid-40s, but sunny.

out east---"the Shed" in Edom is a popular Biker breakfast place and in Ben Wheeler a classy joint whoze name escapes me-they serve alcohol-out  highway 80  past Canton  a few miles into beautiful hiway 314/5 towards Palestine...if Serk could down load "the Texas Forest Trail" for us all....hiway 80/Interstate bisects it...a northern 1/2 one  weekend and the southern 1/2 another

Haven't seen any Valks besides mine in a while, I'd join in on a Forest Trail ride, although with over 600 miles of forest to see, New Years Day may not be enough time.

Will not be able to make a ride on New year's Day, going to be out of town.
Wish all the best for 2018!

That "confirm open" was brilliant. Place we went yesterday was closing early and we almost missed the cutoff.

Have a great ride. We'll be out ofnpocket, but I hope the weather cooperates. Let's not let Rainmaker become Snowmaker.

Current forecast is for mid-30s.

Time to get serious.

How many are interested?

An all day ride seems ambitious.

More destination suggestions?

Riding to the grocery store and back on a bike when it's in the mid 30s is ambitious.

Riding all day in the mid 30s when it's not part of a trip is crazy  crazy2

I think I'll pass  Roll Eyes

I see some forecasts showing some 21 degree lows for the weekend--my wife's fully faired Indian Cheiftain with electric grips would be doable but my Standard with a tourer windshield and no handguards...I think it would be too cold to be actually fun..I'm out..around here you just never know if some pipe broke or sprinkler got left on and will put some ice on the road and then the sanding truck putting another hazard out...

A high of 31 degrees doesn't sound like a fun ride.  It does sound like a Polar Bear ride, though.

But I'm out - that's too cold to start out a ride for me these days.

We do need a ride - how about Jan 6th for a day ride to a lunch location, before the rain is supposed to start?  Temperatures will be at least 25 degrees higher, which is mucho better to me.

I agree.  The chance of wintery mix on the 1st has come and gone from the forecast, but a high near 30 doesn't equate with a pleasurable recreational ride.

RM, will you plan and lead?  I'm not positive I can be there on the 6th.

a nice ride out east..hiway 80/I-20 to just past Canton and a short drop Ben Wheeler where a nice eatery is or continuing to Odom for "The Shed" another popular biker eatery and taking 314/315 south to Palestine is very nice--twisty/hilly/tree's--some good Mexican food there...can continue on south or head back north and getting on hi-way 175 cuts some time off heading back to Dallas

Good call, or call-off, of the NYD ride.   cooldude

I might ride around the neighborhood, just to be able to say I did, but anything below 45 degrees and I'm not interested in a ride of any distance.

We have become quite comfortable with our dislike of cooler temperatures.  Comes with age and wisdom. uglystupid2
