How would you pronounce this child's name?

"Le-a"

1st day of school and the teacher is taking attendance
"Leah?"  Nope
"Lee - A?"  Nope
"Lei?"  Still nope

This child attends a school in Detroit and complained to her mother that the teacher keeps mis-pronouncing her name.  Irate, the mother confronts the teacher and exclaims that her child's name is pronounced "Ledashsa".  She continued "The dash don't be silent".

So teachers, if something comes across your desk like this, please remember to pronounce the dash.  If asked why, tell them "I axed, and the dash don't be silent".

I think I would have walked that Mom out to front of the building where the name of the SCHOOL was and told her, Ma'am, see that sign, this is a school, we dont teach kids to pronounce punctuation marks here.

I heard that a couple of years ago except the school was in Louisiana.  It fits with what happened at the local hospital's maternity ward.  A new mother was brought her baby girl and saw the ankle band.  She supposedly said, You done named my baby, Femallee!!"

I think there is a 1 inch layer of dust on her, bro.  Been an awful season of riding for me.  Too much rain, or too much babysitting.....Cheryl is a workaholic.

Heard a story once about a first grade teacher who asked the child how to pronounce his name. It was spelled Shithead.   Pronounced Shi-theed.  Roll Eyes
