Why would anyone shave a cow like that?

Broussard, Louisiana

« on: October 28, 2009, 05:10:34 PM »

I sure have spent a ton of miles and smiles with a little ridin' buddy of mine.  Man, we sure have shared a chunk of this ol' great country together.  I wouldn't trade a mile or smile for anything.  Just to think, 4 years ago, we didn't even know each other - now, not only is he a brother of the wind to me - he is just a brother to me.  When I flew in Monday, I wasn't even home yet and he was calling to make sure I was OK.  We email each other constantly when I am in Africa and talk on the phone when we can.

You couldn't ask for two people to be any different than this ol' Yahoo and I, but we just mesh.  I guess we compliment each other.  We ride different but love to ride with each other and I can't think of a cross word ever spoken between us even when we are spending 24/7 on the road for weeks at a time.

Kind of like when Timbrwolf speaks of his brother and bud back in Jersery (?) - you can tell there was a connection.

Yep, diggin through some photos today and the ol' Billy and Wyatt sure brought a smile to my face and my heart.

I think we were still in New Mexico or may have already crossed over into Arizona on this one.

I don't even know how I was smiling since I had just found out my father had passed about an hour before this shot - but I was with the support group that I needed to be with.

On the Canadian side of the falls.

After going into the falls.

That dang bell got a crack in it!!!!!

It sure has been a GREAT COUNTRY that we have riden through - let me tell ya!!!!!!!!!!

And I SURE AM GLAD THAT I GOT TO SEE A CHUNK OF IT WITH A DEAR FRIEND OF MINE.  Would not have been the same without him.,

We have been playing phone tag since I got back and just got off the phone with him.  You just don't get no better - he is one of those people in life that makes you a better person just by knowing them.  He has taught me so much about life in the 4 years we have been tooling around together..... You just don't get no better.

Only problem is - he hangs out with a dangerous crowd!!!  Cheesy Grin Cheesy cooldude

I know how you feel strider. Kits the same way. Wouldn't want to ride with no one else. Most cant hang like she can.

The CBR 07 was the 1st time I really got to talk to you about your rides. Also met JP for the 1st time and he was a hoot. No sure you this party crasher was.

I agree! They don't come much better than him,  I roomed with J.P. during Inzane 8 in Johnson City. We had never met before then, but when we parted I felt like I had a another good friend.
I have enjoyed all your trip stories about you and J.P. I hope to one day meet you also, and share the wind with the both of you.

.....yep.....good friends are hard to find....but one close friend that always has your back....covets the wind as much as you do.....and would help you any way in their power.....well....its a lucky man who has a brother like that ......Johnny is that kind of guy....when we met, we became close friends really fast...and explored the wind and life together every chance we got...I know from all your post, that you and JP are the same way....and you carry on just like Johnny and I did....from the missions for good grub....to riding anywhere...any time...and it dont matter...where.....havent seen Johnny is almost 5 years...and miss him dearly.....hopefully one day we,ll share the wind again...we definitely have some..catchin up to do..

I have a few friends with whom I truly enjoy sharing the wind.

Then there are a couple of guys with whom I can ride all day long.  We never disagree on destination, velocity, or duration of the ride.  We never tire of one another's company.  We are closer than brothers.

But there's one rider with whom, even if we haven't necessarily agreed on the road all day, I'm still pleased to share company when the day's ride is done.

A great riding partner is REALLY HARD TO FIND.    I have been riding motorcycles all my life, now 59 yrs old and I have only found 1  true really good riding partner in all my days of riding.   I met Russel Collins about 12 yrs ago when I sold him his first bike.  I had a used Honda Magna I sold him.  He lived a few streets over from me and our wives became best friends, and still are today.  In many trips Russel and I toured the north and west of the U S , our favorite trip being to Big Bend Park in Texas each year.  We Would argue occassionally  and get mad at each other sometimes but we both realized that our riding habits just meshed and it was a true pleasure to ride motorcycles together.......EVERY TRIP WAS AN ADVENTURE.  Russel had many different bikes, didn't keep one long, and ended up with a Harley.   He broke down quite often on the Harley and I would go and get him with my trailer, and ride him a little bit.  2 years ago we planned a motorcycle trip from Houston to Colorado and over into Utah. at the last minute Russel had to back out due to a diabetic problem but I was already off work and I went on the trip by myself.  I toured Colorado and at a rest stop in Utah I called Russel back in Houston, Tx area.  When he answered he asked me "How''s your trip going?"   Just as a joke
I answered "Russel, I'm broke down and need some help."    He was driving in his truck at the time and I could hear tires squaling and he said "I'm going back to the house to get a change of clothes and the trailer.....what state you in?"      To me that is a true friend.    I could go on and on about our many adventures but am limited on time here.   My riding partner Russel Collins dropped dead of a massive heart attack last year at the age of 51.   I truly miss riding with him.    If you have someone like Russel Collins to ride with....cherish them.....they only come around once in a life time.
