I have a 97 tourer with just over 50k on it. The fork seals are leaking and the front end is a little soft. Should i replace the springs when i have the seals done? and what spring should I use?
I don't need the best or hyper performance, I just want a good ride, I am 6'4'' and 260 lb  thanks

Progressives are not too expensive and will improve the front end. More $$$ brings you up to Hyper Pros. BTW: Use All Balls parts in the forks. I've used several brands including OEM and like All Balls the best.

Bareass has an excellent tutorial. He is also one of the best writers on the Internet.

In order to slip the spring seat stopper out, you have to push down the spring collar against the coil spring pressure. I've found it easy to do with a ΒΌ-inch ratchet (2nd pic).

All Balls seals, bushings and clips + Hyperpro springs = winnah!

Definitely made a difference in handling, and my Tourer's stock springs were by no means worn out. They only have 14K on them.

All Balls seals, bushings and clips ...

Is all that included in one all balls kit? Do you have the part number?

Got this from Amazon. Motion Pro (08-0491) 45mm Ringer Fork Seal Driver

I have used a homemade seal driver for years and decided to spring for the Motion Pro finally

I got lucky on eBay and found a used OEM driver for about half the price of a new aftermarket one.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised.  Cheesy

I have done a fair amount of forks and finally got tired of beating on my hands with the pvc one I made. 38 bucks and change for the Motion Pro. It too will be on eBay one day. Haha.

Well I had the local Honda dealer replace the seals and springs....  they stated who ever was in there last did not put them back together right. Had some loose parts. It handles much better with the properly installed progressive springs!
