2014 Valkyrie 1800

I wasn't feeling right today, and cut our planned ride a little short to get home. As we approach a sharp bend I see what appears to be trash on the side of the road (bad eyes). It's a motocycle on top of the rider, in the guardrail. As we get closer he appears to be praying (maybe he was?) The bike was in the guardrail, he was on his knees facing the roadway with his back to the bike, both lower legs and feet pinned under the bike (Royal Star Venture) about a 900lb. motorcycle.
We pulled off the road and got the bike off him. He was banged up, bleeding, scraped up. He did not appear to have any broken bones. I asked him if he could walk or put any weight on his one leg he seemed to be favoring, he said he was fine and really wanted to be on his way. Bike was banged up pretty hard. I could see fork damage, severe fender damage, crash bar destroyed and pushed up into the floorboard, wich in turn pushed up into the shifter, wich in turn pushed up into the side casing, bag was well ground down. His adrenalin was a flowing, he bent that stuff back into a ridable position and was gone. Handlebars sideways going straight down the road.
He did reak of alcohol, I'm guessing day old alcohol, cause it was still before noon. I inspected the roadway after he left, no debris? He did take a nice chunk out of the road for about 20 feet. I'm guessing the cause was excessive speed going into a decreasing radius bend? Mixed with a little alcohol. Second motorcycle accident I've road upon this week, first guy wasn't so lucky.
Sorry, no pics...although it did go through my mind, I just couldn't do it to the poor guy.
Ride safe, keep the shiny side up cooldude

What riding gear was he wearing? Sounds like a lucky guy to me.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

"Left the scene" or "fled the scene" is pretty common these days with the DUI laws being what they are in many states.

Too bad really, there's help out there is you want it.. but ya gotta want it.

I'm no do-gooder but, I've got no use for drunks.  Still, I am glad he survived.  Sounds like a doozy.
