that is one of the reasons why I like the valkyrie so much derived from the 80's honda magna looks which I had as well from 1988 to 1997. 

never knew the 97 valkryie was based on drawings from 1991.

The info is taken from a very nice book called "The Honda Valkyrie" written by Peter Rakestrow.  It is a 94 page paperback going through the entire history of the Valkyrie.  It is printed in England but I got it on Ebay for about $15 including shipping.  Well worth the money if interested in the history of the entire Valyrie family.
