There are many youtubes and reviews on the new 2018 Goldwing on how much better the exhaust note sounds and how much better it handles over the previous model.

But I would be very interested in a comparison of the new Goldwing vs the New Valkyrie in terms of Handling and exhaust note...

This way I can better decide if I need to sell a kidney in the near future. $$  Shocked

Well, considering no one has driven the new Goldwing, that would be hard for anyone to do.

Personally, I think the Valkyrie would be a better handling machine overall, with the new Wing possibly coming close....but it is a different beast and should be different.  changing tires/sizes has a significant impact on handling it seems as well.  As for the exhaust note..... it's going to be behind you most of the time and not a significant concern of mine.  I think the note of what we have is good, not too much one way or the other.    That said...... I am anxious to see and ride a new Wing to see for myself.

I bet the new Wing's front suspension will blow ours out of the water...

And more if you do a search....

Many reviewers no doubt reviewed the new Valk as well.
Eventually some one will do it..

Well me too!  And we lived in the Sacramento area, Roseville Honda got 5
new wings last Friday. Sold 3 already and have orders on others.
They say discount will only be in the form of say extended warren-tee discounts....so about $200.
lol  Seems like there will be a high demand at least for a while.

While the new wing looks great and has alot of new tech that will improve most aspects of the bike, it still is a wing.

I might be interested but it would have to be an real improvement from our bikes and I just don't see that happening.

My Valk has never failed to deliver on a good time or make a ride enjoyable. I look at most new tech like OK how does that translate to my riding satisfaction, initial purchase price and continued enjoyment in the form of repairs and just overall riding experience. Is it just new and shiny or does it have some real benefits.

While all the new features seem cool and will help in the ride experience its still a wing and how much does this directly address the weak points on my Valk?

I say it actually doesn't, since I don't seem to have any weak points that I could consider glaring problems.
I wanted a wing without the command console and I have that in the Valk I have not changed my mind either and even with the enticement of all the new tech I will wait and see.

Wink Wink The new Wing in either form is going to be way better than even our beloved Valkyries. Electronic suspension WORKS. Better brakes, Better handling. Now for the if, All new everything means it could have Gremlins the first year or two. I'm going to wait for year 2. My dealer said they are only getting one or two per dealer so price will be full sticker. Russelville is taking orders but I didn't call them as I'm afraid of 1st year models

Maybe....  technically speaking, but overall handling maybe not.   We shall see when some of us get the opportunity to get our arses on one i guess.

No rush to buy one.... I think it needs some time to prove itself...and maybe get some bugs fixed.  I got 2 other bikes to keep me occupied....and it doesn't look as tho these two Valkyries will wear out anytime soon.    But I would like to get a ride on a new one......and ultimately will I hope.

At this juncture in my life (71) doubtful a $30K motorcycle will be in the picture. JMHO always thought the GoldWing a big smooth tank. First pictures of the new one caught my eye. Just much sleeker looking plus that Burgundy one is beautiful. A lot of electronics but Honda seems over the years to have a good track record with that. The one thing that really peaks my interest is the DCT auto. I know with some that is heresy. I think it would be sweet. Nothing wrong with a pipe dream. I am sure my 98 Fast Black Tourer will take me to my twilight years of riding. I can never go in and out of my garage without stopping to admire her......This is one of the better videos i have found on the GW.     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nM7d7ux_6yE

I think the goldwing has been the ultimate double up touring bike for years, just lookat it's sales records. But most of us that rode or owned the Valkyries know the difference, and now that I own an updated 2014 Valkyrie with the 1832 motor, I will not need to EVER get any other bike. Of course I do 90% of my riding solo , and when I want to really turn heads I just take my 1975 original GL1000 out for a scoot, just my opinion. And I herd on the news today that Harley announced thry are closing a plant. I did not hear where but I'm sure that their continuing dropping sales had something to do with it. We will just continue to ride our big Hondas for years to come.

Mike is that your Motus?  Thoughts vs the Valk or Honda in general?  Saw a local Honda dealership now selling those....

Late last night there was a commercial for the new Goldwing on the Weather Channel.  Imagine that.

I had the good fortune to ride the new Wing for about 40 miles a few days ago.  I wrote a pretty lengthy review over at the F6B forum, since that's what I'm now on.  Here's the link if you're interested in reading it.

http://hondaf6b.com/showthread.php?11694-Rode-the-new-2018-today

In terms of comparisons,  the bike somehow manages to be pretty much the best of all the previous platforms, with almost none of the limitations, besides the 112 mph speed limiter, and the smaller bags.  It really is that good.  And all the new additions worked flawlessly on the test ride.  The front end and the DCT, in particular, were both jaw dropping.  I can't wait to hear more thoughts from guys who ride one, and really get the chance to put those features through their paces, and see how they shape up.

Honestly, it left me feeling  pretty lucky to be part of such a beautiful motorcycle legacy.  From the original wings, to the old Valks to the new ones, the F6b and now this new Wing, it is a remarkable lineage.

Now that I've ridden it, and loved it, my biggest remaining questions are about reliability.  Will there be bugs in all the new bells and whistles and moving parts?  And besides the cylinder sleeves now being aluminum, the DCT allows you to absolutely tear through the power band. It really removes almost all the skill, and quite a bit of the fatigue, necessary for driving fast, which left me wondering whether or not more people will be hotdogging their wings more often and therefore decreasing engine life. But that's not something I guess we'll know for a few years.  I bet rear tire replacement frequency increases pretty soon, though.

I would think the new front suspension of the wing might have something to say, I don’t know what that is and if it is indeed better however it could be a game changer and maybe not. We have a local large gas station we meet at and two Saturdays ago a new wing was there and yes we had a long conversation with the new owner. He also let all the Valk clan mount it and play zroom zaroom sounds.  It was interesting to feel the stance. For me the stance on the 14-15 Valk is more spread out, to my liking. For the op and the consideration, are you one up or do you have a passenger, more fun runs or long distance?

They are a nice looking machine.  Would I trade my Valk in on it....hell no.  Mine is paid off, it is a great ride, gives me more than I need and I don't feel like having a 25-30K loan on a bike.  Would I buy it if I didn't have a bike...hell no, I still wouldn't want a 30K+ loan on a bike.  2funny 2funny 2funny

I love my 14 Valkyrie and have no plans to trade it in. That being said I'm signed with my local dealers demo day on both the New Honda and the new Yamaha on the 24th of March. I'll let you all know.

I went to check out the new Goldwing today.  Specifically, the F6B model that they just call a Goldwing now.  I was not crazy on the matte silver that they had on the floor as that paint is hard to keep clean.  My cousin has the matte white on his Indian and he said that it was a pain to keep clean.  Apparently, the other colour available is a matte brown, although, in the picture it looks shiny.  The new Goldwing Tour is available in a gorgeous red colour, but it is $3800 more with the trunk.  The trunk can be taken off in minutes which is a plus.  Here in Canada, the Goldwing is $27000 and the Goldwing Tour starts at $30800.  GW Tour DCT is $32000 and GW Tour DCT airbag is $34600.

One thing I hated right off the bat was the seat.  The seat is slightly rounded and was pushing on my tailbone after sitting on it for only 10 mins.  The only thing nice about the seat is that it has a slot to put in a driver's backrest.  Although, at $400 the Honda backrest is pretty expensive and butt ugly.  I would want something else.  The seating position was really nice and comfy for me.

The saddlebags are small.  If you are going to do any touring you would want the trunk as well.  The bags are about 2/3 res the size of the ones I have on my bike and with the side loading you would be able to get half the stuff in there that I could on mine.

All being said, I would not trade mine in for it that is for sure, but I will take it for a test ride when the weather gets better.  I am really interested to see if handling and power is much different.

I test rode a GW Tourer DCT.     It was peppy, especially in Sport mode....even for an automatic.  I found it a bit difficult without a clutch lever and shifter hanging off the left peg.  I did try all the modes except the rain mode.  It did seem unusually smooth for an automatic.  The handling of the Tour was a bit heavier than my 2014 Valkyrie.  However, it had a great amenities....elec windscreen, stereo, heated seat/grips (that are quite toasty even on low).  Ok, it was nice.....but not nearly as sporty handling as the Valkyrie IMO.

One thing on the new Goldwing I really liked was the passenger footrest.  When you fold them up, they almost disappear and blend in with the bike.  The average person would not know they are there when folded up.

yes, that was nice, but I noticed it ...and noticed how it really blended in when folded up.

I have seen a youtube video of some front shock bumper issues but that was days after my test ride.  I wonder about that travel and bumper hitting.
