What you order depends on miles on the bike. You need 2 sets of seals (includes the dust seal). Might need 2 sets of bushings (2 guide and 2 slider bushings). Approx 50 oz's of fork oil. 10 wt is stock but I use 15 weight. I like the crisper feel in the front. Who is going to do the work? You need a couple of special tools to install seals and remove the large nut in the left side fork.

Well since you intend to get your trusted dealer to do it.... you don't need to order anything.... they do.  Tell them you want both front fork seals replaced and leave it to them.  However, if it were me....  I would also have the bushings done.  Get both forks done.... sorta like headlights... when one goes the other is close behind I think.

Do the bushings too, especially since you are already paying labor to get to the bushings.

This is the information and approach I took when doing mine.  This was my first set of seals to replace, and it went off without a hitch!

Much appreciated. Now to decide if I want the progressive springs or the gold valve kit with the racetek forks! And when will I find the time to do this.

Recently replaced my stock fork springs with RaceTech's (no gold valve kit) along with WorksPerformance shocks. Significant difference all the way around. I'm a happy camper. Chose the RaceTech's over the Progressives on the advice of my mechanic who had experience with both. As for the WP shocks, I got a good deal on a pair from the WP "ebay store" that brought the price down to that  for a comparable pair of Progressive 440's. Though much more expensive than the replacement fork springs, the shocks were also far more effective in reducing front end "chatter" and improving handling.

Frankly, I don't know if opting for the Gold Valve kit from RaceTech would be worth the expense since my Valk now handles about as well as I think I can expect from a bike its size. It still doesn't match my Moto Guzzi Breva1100, but I don't expect it to. I think the Gold Valve kit is simply overkill for a Valkyrie. (YMMV, of course.)

For the record, I'm about 190 lbs and ride solo 100% of the time. Works Performance tunes their shocks for those two variables.

I installed the Progressive fork springs and changed fluid to AMSOIL Shock Therapy and so far am very happy.  I have Progressives on my VTX as well and they have been great for a few years now....  For the price, Progressive Fork Springs are really a great improvement.

Hi:
I was told of a simple procedure that might help  stop your fork seal leaks.

Often there is a speck of something that gets into the seal and causes a leak.  You go into your old photos and grap a piece of 35mm negative.  You slip this piece of exposed negative up between the
seal and the fork working it up and down.  Be sure to go all the way around each fork.

What happens is the the sprocket holes in the piece of film might grab the speck of dirt and remove it.

It worked for me

Same as "desanshe"; Last winter I found a drop of oil, about once per week, from the left side.  After a couple months I did the film strip trick.  Didn't remove the dust seal.  Just slipped the film strip, curve to match the fork tube, up through the seals.  Did a seesaw motion all the way around a couple times.  No more leaks.  That was nearly a year ago.  Worked for me.  Ymmv,  Cool

Check out http://www.hondapartsnation.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/parts.aspx they are almost 10% cheaper than HDL.  The 51490-MW0-003 is $19.37 vs. $20.43 at HDL.  A buck or two per item adds up fast.  They are in MI so if you live there, you'll pay sales tax to them (as I would here in FL or if I were in OH using HDL).

Hope it helps...
