A roadster!

Abilene, Texas

« on: February 27, 2018, 02:54:31 PM »

I really got frustrated not being able to get my luggage rack, grab rails and backrest prototyped by a CNC shop.  Geez!  $4000+.  So, what did I do?  I designed a tubing bender and ordered a TIG welder.  That's the obvious solution, right?  Roll Eyes  (I do have MIG welding experience and figured I could do TIG with practice.)

Okay then.  Time to clean up the garage and make some space.  Oh!  What do I do with all of those buckets and dishes and box lids full of mixed fasteners?   Shocked

I have been out there all day sizing and sorting and matching bolts, washers, lock washers, nuts, and lock nuts.  This is going to go on for days!  Holy cow!  It looks like a Fastenal truck had a wreck in my garage!

Anyone volunteer to help?

Bill

Cant tell you how many times I have cleaned up the inventory and it was a great lesson not to have to much in stock  Grin I did hire a kid to come and clean up though and he did a pretty good job, anyone around Bill that needs a little extra cash.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger...

Just move them to a bigger container - a good temp solution.
I now have about 4 oil pans full of hardware to sort.
Waiting for a day when I have no other projects.... uglystupid2

I tell ya though, about 6 hours ago I was wishing I was home and sorting hardware; or doing anything...  Grin seems the weatherman was a bit off in the forecast for my travel area...

Fun stuff!  Still beats being in the office...

You'll spend more time cleaning that mess up than you will your garage.

Guess I should do a trip report  cooldude- in spite of the snow, it went really well. And other than my toes, the electric gloves and vest kept me toasty.

So...speaking of hardware... got a few things to sort as well... never enough time or space... tickedoff
Those oil drain pans do work great; the other three actually hold most of the hardware for other bike projects.

Seems odd. I can usually find what I need for a project... but I swear, sometimes it's easier just to saddle up the bike and go to the hardware store again...  2funny
