I’m looking at a set of chrome rotor covers that came off a standard. Will they work on an interstate? Not wanting to buy something that’s not going to work. Been there done that!! Figure I ask the wise ones on this forum.

I know they make this for Gold Wings. Never seen them on Valkyries.

The front forks and mounting bolts are all the same. They'll fit.

Figure I ask the wise ones on this forum. They are not interchangeable without some work, I've been down this road before. The hole for the speedo will have to be enlarged if putting a standard rotor cover on an IS. Be wary when trimming it if you start peeling the chrome from the tool or from heat or you'll have to seal the chrome somehow or powder coat the cover.

I believe these were made by Rivco for the Valk.

Personally I have never been a fan of the look of the chrome rotor covers
Well, I think they look OK, but brakes are real important, and I like to be able to look at mine whenever I want without having to take parts off. And I don't wash my bike all the time, but when I do, I do a detailed brake scrub with mildly corrosive mag cleaner or S100, and I don't want to have to take those covers off to do it. And my rotors are a bit cupped but still doing fine, but I do like to eyeball them.
Now this idea is also applicable to the whole host of chrome tranny covers, swing arm covers, seat baskets, fork trim and all kinds of things. And both my bikes have a lot of chrome, and some of it is in the way of maintenance, but I don't think any of my chrome is in the way of basic visual inspection of important parts, like rotor covers. Maybe I'm splitting hairs. YMMV
One other thing. You know how if you put the bike away wet or damp, and it sits for awhile (not months, just a week-ten days) in a shed/garage that gets hot and cold, and with constant humid summers, you can get a little surface rust/crud on the rotors, that makes the bike hard to push around. Now all you have to do is go for a ride and use the brakes and most of that disappears. So my question is, do those covers make this issue better, or worse? (I don't know)

I don't let my bike sit up for more than a day or so...these bikes like to be ridden...of course, it is better that I live where I can ride all year round...!!!

Not keen on them either....but more for the fact it will trap heat in if you are doing tight twisty roads.... Hot pads/brakes are not ideal and I do like roads with tight turns, as many as possible Std the caliper is out in the open to breath

I bought a 97 tourer several months ago and it had them on it . I took them off to rebuild everything and the dirt and road grim that collects under there, all over everything. I did not put them back on. I like the red painted rotors on the bike what type paint did you use? It also had tall fork covers they as well stayed off. Some of that chrome stuff hides drips and leaks. Every nut and bolt head had a chrome plastic or chromed steel cap on it was a chrome queen but not anymore.

The caliper isn't covered by the rotor cover so it doesn't get any hotter with or without and the inside half of the rotor is still completely open to the wind. I love the twisties and have done the three sisters spirited ride with the TX VRCC, loaded and with a passenger, with no brake fade or braking issues.

I did not put them back on. Want to sell them? I like the red painted rotors on the bike what type paint did you use?
Red powder coat. I just picked a red from the list of colors that they had.
