I just got and installed a new set of Avon Cobra’s on my new to me Valkyrie Interstate! They are a far cry from the 2001 vintage Dunlops that were on her when I brought her home.  What kind of pressures are you guys with Avons on Interstates running? |

Many opinions here, I always have at least 40 psi front and rear, 41, 2, 3, ok, under 40 and you risk tire cupping. I run a car tire rear now but same pressures.

44-46 rear and 38-39 front. I find 40psi front or above is too harsh a ride and since the front tire will last 15K miles or so much more than the 8-10K rear cycle tire, you can get almost twice the life out of a front cycle tire vs. a rear cycle tire so why not make the ride tad bit smoother over bumps in the road.
You could go 42psi rear but I see no ill effect from even 46 psi rear cycle tire plus riding 2-up would prefer 45-46 over 44 psi riding 1-up. You want the rear cycle tire to last as long as possible and 45-46 psi will last more than 42-44 psi since not too many cycle tires in the rear will go over 10K miles.

Look no further...you've done well. Have 148K on my I/S & been through many tires. Avon is my preference. Warning...don't ruin a good set of tires by running the pressure too low. I run 44 in rear and 38-40 in front. If you don't keep the pressure up you'll get cupping, particularly the rear.

Avon Cobras have definitely been the best of the various brands I've had in the 16 years I've owned my IS. Do a lot of two-up riding both day rides and long distance touring, and always keep 44-46 in the rear and 40 in the front, which gives the best ride and also wear.
