They are calling for a chance of showers here for Friday, so I took an extra vacation day and am heading down Thursday morning.  I am planning on state highways to the Nashville, TN area.  I am then going to get up Friday morning and ride the Natchez Trace Parkway from it's endpoint in Tennessee down to around the Mississippi/Alabama state line area before returning to Lexington, TN Friday evening. Any must-see stops on the Trace in the area I will be riding? Change of plans...Joe talked me into coming down to Knoxville Thursday to ride over with them.  He promised he would get me on the Trace for a while.  See you all next weekend.

Not that many good stops in that section, but try Gordon House, McGlamery Stand, Glenrock, Lewis Park. The Trace from Tupelo to Natchez has the best stops. Still a great ride, have fun. Thanks Pete.

Although Dave's plans changed, I'll be watching this thread for stop ideas off the Trace. I'm hoping (weather permitting) to do the whole Trace around December 10th thru ???? and would love some ideas for what to stop and see or do. Dave P.

Meriwether Lewis Monument (near Hohenwald,TN) and the Gorden House (near Columbia,TN) are both "must sees" on that section of the Natchez Trace.

From the Tennessee line to Tupelo: a couple of stops have Indian mounds, Bear Creek cave/spring, old indian village at Tupelo. Below Tupelo Witch Dance(interesting folk lore), French Camp(good light lunch stop, try the potato soup), Barnett Impoundment. Below Jackson, Sunken Trace(amazing), Little Mountain(old over night stop and farm), Emerald Mound, Rock Creek(old town site, old Church still has services), while in Natchez, Natchez-under-the-hill.
Trace is a GREAT ride, I try to do it every year. Thanks Pete.
