There was a post about facial recognition software and they didnt think it was going to be used or was used against John Q citizen. Well here it is only a short time later and we see it trying to be used exactly how privacy experts feared.

Chicago Mayor Emanuel Wants To Unleash Spying Police Drone Against Protestors
https://chicago.suntimes.com/opinion/police-drones-surveillance-red-squad-illinois-law/

Mayor Emanuel is doing what his critics of mass surveillance have feared the most, unleash an unprecedented wave of police spy drones with facial recognition software at public events, more importantly at public protests.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the current drone law “makes sense,” as it provides an equilibrium between keeping Chicagoans and respecting their rights. The law had overwhelming support in the Legislature when it was enacted six-years ago by the Illinois Senate (52-1), and the Illinois House of Representatives (105-12).

My iphone X uses facial recognition quite well.

When a website requires user a username and/or password, I can save it/them with a click and the next time I need the info to gain access to a website I just have to look at the screen on the phone.  Same to make purchases with my iphone.  I just look at the screen and it gets my debit card info out of the wallet app or uses Applepay.

Makes life easy.

But for everything good, someone is figuring out bad ways to use them.
