Weird, or maybe not
You know, I'll bet that those who read this also have had unexplained happenings. Here are three of mine.
I had a friend in Ft. Wayne back in my younger days who rode motorcycles with me. I hadn't seen him for awhile by the time I was drafted in 1952. I was sent to Korea in '53 and a short time later I heard that he had beeen drafted also and was located only about 5 miles from my company. What a coincidence! I was ready to get a trip ticket signed by our CO (Commanding Officer) when I heard that he was a mortar sergeant and was the victim of a short round and was sent back to Japan for treatment. Never saw him but still?
Another one. In 1998 my wife and I decided to visit New Hampshire in the Fall. We traveled the 950 or so miles (took two days) and arrived at the Hampton Inn in Concord, New Hampshire for our stay. Just as we checked in, a couple from our church, came up to us as they were checking in also. We couldn't get over that coincidence. In fact, I just talked to them at Kroger's the other day about it.
The third one was interesting as I saw an opportunity to really puzzle someone.
While working at Magnavox as an associate environmental test technician, I did much electronic testing on the ARC 164 aircraft two way radio. One instrument used to do that testing was called a Bird wattmeter. The wattmeter had to be regularly calibrated for accuracy according to DCAS (Defense Contracts Administration Services, a government entity). I gave the wattmeter to Al Schlie in the cal. lab and told him I needed it when I came back from vacation.
Our family went on vacation to the upper peninsula of Michigan. On our second day we visited Tahquanamen Falls (SP) close to Paradise and off the beaten path (450 miles from Ft. Wayne). We arrived, parked the car, and walked down the 50 some steps to arrive at the base of the Falls. When we got to the viewing platform , much to my initial surprise, there was Al Schlie and his family also viewing the Falls.
I immediately walked over to him, shook his hand and said...........................”Al, I've been looking all over for you. When are you going to bring back the Bird wattmeteer?”
Sorta reminded me of the story about the Zippo lighter.
