Looking into this Rosanne thing, I guess I don't see the racist part of this. It was claimed to be racist but it may not have even been close.
I'm not sure what or why Rosanne chose to comment on Valerie Jarret.
Now I follow politics a bit. I knew of Jarret and her being an advisor to Obama. When this got thrown into the "racist" mode, I was a bit confused as I had no idea Jarret was "African American".
If you Google her and see the photos of her you would be hard pressed to conclude she is an "African American" woman.
Even in one of Rosanne's many apologies she states that she had no idea Jarret was "African American"
Jarret is only part African American. She is, and has identified herself as of Iranian decent.
So what would cause Rosanne to reference "The Planet of the Apes" ?
Now I happen to find Valerie Jarret a rather cute woman. Appearance wise, of course. But even I see a likeness to one of the characters in the movie. Not all the apes or chimps but one in particular, which would be Zira, played by Kim Hunter.
Now, if you do a search of Kim Hunter and Valerie Jarret you would find that both of them have remarkable similar facial features. Put some makeup on Hunter and there you have it.
So anyway, not seeing anything racist about the comment although I do believe she was dissing her appearance in a not real funny joke.
I’m not sure how anyone could not see the racism in her tweet. For decades, maybe longer racists have insinuated black people are closer to monkeys than humans.
