I heard the warnings several times, but no cops were ever called.
I also think they wanted money and drinking to occur in the bar.
But VA has some peculiar (ABC) liquor laws (esp beyond beer and wine), and they may in fact have been at risk of losing their liquor license with us drinking out front, away from the bar (which I can understand).
But how us drinkers out front were at criminal risk ourselves (beyond public intoxication, or drunk and disorderly, or creating a disturbance, etc) I have no idea.
Especially considering that the layout of our Sheraton hotel, had us pretty isolated from the public or housing or schools or much of anything else.

Barb and I sure did like Virginia. Lots of good roads. Would like to go back and get on some we missed. If Inzane was there next year we would go again. We also liked Michigan. Just my 2 cents.

I would echo what Don said - I really enjoyed the roads. When leaving, I had the feeling that there were dozens of nearby ride routes that we didn't get a chance to explore. On our first ride there, my GPS said to take hwy 615 off of Hwy 311, I was a little skeptical... but wow!! All the smaller roads we found were nicely paved in good shape and nice and twisty. During the rest of the week, we found every road we tried was fun and a great road for a ride.
I thought the hotel was nice and there was plenty of room for us.
Bottom line, there's lots of great twisty roads and ride routes that we don't see as much around where I live and ride and that's what helped make it a great InZane for me.
I'd be up for going back to Roanoke again.... but I understand there is a concern that some people would not attend next year if it's back there.
Just my 2 cents...

I enjoyed Roanoke and would not mind going back, but like others would like to try different places. Billings was to far for me. Has Inzane ever been held in the Ozarks? Never been there, but it sure looks great on TV.

I wasn't going to vote nor post a reply, but in the end, it seems I am.
I don't have the ability to attend an InZane every year, either by time getting to-from, funds or holiday time off. The Spearfish was my 1st, then followed by Billings, which was most likely the closest I could have expected it to get to the West Coast.
I had a great time at the Rallys, able to see areas I wouldn't have likely have gotten my wife to agree to go to. But the last thing I want to do is to ride the same roads in getting to the Rally over and over, and like others have said, there are only so many ways to get somewhere, especially when you have time restraints.

I think it was OSS, but I may be confused, one person mentioned a pole, another mentioned cloudy pool water, and yet another mentioned secretary auditions. Jim

Not an InZane pic (I wasn't there this year), but it probably looked something like this:

... I also recollect how spendy alcohol was in the bar at Lacrosse. Myself personally I prefer the ambiance of the parking lot with friends and cold ones out of a cooler and pitchin in to a "kitty" fer replenishment of funds for more cold ones.
I would NOT go back to Lacrosse. Talk about HOT and the mosquitos! I remember that parking lot well. It was a recent pave job and we left divits ALL OVER the place. Those empty cold ones eventually became kickstand pads. I vote for someplace new. The Hudson Valley in good ole NY has it all. Great weather in June. Great riding. Lots to do when not riding. New table gaming casino. History everywhere.

New York will not honor any other states concealed carry permits, the one exception is a CCW license from New York City which are valid state wide.

My first InZane was IZ VIII, the second one in Johnson City, TN. I've been fortunate to be able to go to each one since. Making my point with an over-simplification, f6gal has heard me say, "Rockies, Smokies, Rockies, Smokies..." More accurately, my feelings are east, then west, and repeat. I would jump at the opportunity to go back to Roanoke, but recommend it for 2020 with someplace different (new?) for 2019. Without InZanes being spread around the country, we probably would not have been able to complete the lower 48. We've used the various destinations as excuses for meandering routes. How could it be any better than that? Eureka Springs was way hot, but later in the year than we've done for a while. La Crosse, was freakishly hot (100+) while it was in the 70s and 80s home in DFW, and still later in the year than recent events, IIRC. To me, what makes a location attractive in the late Spring or early Summer is escape from the heat. That means as early in the year as possible + higher latitudes / elevation.

It may have been a better idea to get together in the back of said hotel. Don't think it looked to good for the hotel, think that was their only real complaint.

Really ? Damn if that's the case , they would be pretty poor judge of their clientele ! I think I was out their every night but one or two. I didn't see anything untoward about it. Bunch of old guys drinking beer, smoking, BS'ing. Did they think we were going to all be in our rooms watching Johnny Carson ?

I'd love to try Johnson City one day. Before my time with a Valkyrie and we've been to a lot of towns in Western NC and Eastern TN area but have never been to Johnson City. Would be a good reason to visit.
