https://nypost.com/2018/07/21/elon-musk-is-a-total-fraud/So should the government, which reportedly gifts Musk’s companies with an estimated $4.9 billion in subsidies. Musk has been in business since 2002. His stated goal is nothing short of transforming humanity through his products: his electric cars, space travel, and an underground high-speed Hyperloop system. He has yet to succeed at anything but somehow spins every failure into proof of imminent success. His only accomplishment has been this decades-long Jedi mind trick. Tesla is best known for blowing deadlines and consistently falling short on production. In November 2017, Bloomberg reported that the company burns through $500,000 per hour. For two years now, Tesla has been suffering an epic talent drain and in May, two top execs — one the liaison with the National Transportation Safety Board — walked out the door. That’s to say nothing of the human toll. In March, a Tesla driver was killed while test-driving an auto-piloted Model X, the impact fully decimating half the car. Then in May, the NTSB announced an investigation after two teenagers were killed in a Tesla Model S after its battery caught fire following a crash. A similar accident claimed a driver two months prior, with California firefighters reporting that the Tesla battery kept reigniting itself days after the smash. California’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health opened its third investigation into workplace safety at Tesla Inc. in July after employee complaints. Two investigations have been ongoing since April, yet Musk took to Twitter to boast that Tesla was now building its cars in a tent. “Not sure we actually need a building,” he tweeted. Meanwhile, he was “back to sleeping at the factory” to hit production deadlines. This is a genius? Tesla was founded in 2003, but the world’s largest automakers quickly surpassed Musk’s vision for electric vehicles. Tesla will never catch up. Shareholders are finally catching on.

I'm pretty sure the Tesla stock is for real. If you would have invested $100,000 8 years ago you would have $1,553,846.15 now. Seems real to me.
There are a line of buyers a mile long waiting to buy a Tesla car. Current wait time of 9 months last I read to buy a car.
I went and watched the rockets launch that sent his car to Mars. It seemed real too. Watching the boosters come back down and land where they launched from did seem unreal!

Not really into Tesla, but SpaceX has made some amazing news. I mean returning a rocket booster to a platform in the middle of the ocean is just crazy cool stuff.
Elon Musk a fraud...this guy is as close to Tony Stark as anybody could get. I would not be surprised if he developed some type of Ironman suit.

A lot of great engineering/inventing minds over time have proved to be terrible business minds (like Tesla, himself) so I can't say that Musk is a fraud. I can say that US Federal Tax payers frequently overpay, though

I was a slacker, waited until 15½ (minimum age by law at the time) to get a work permit so I could legally have a paper route and pay taxes & SS. Before that I scammed the system, working under the table for cash doing snow shoveling and mowing lawns.

Hopefully, the statute of limitations has run. If not, I was just kidding, I would never do that. I didn't need no stinking permit. I did need a social security card to start my withholding at 15 at a Mobil gas station. (1.25hr) I just got my county car (personal property) taxes. I recently traded my older Dodge for a new one. I still have to pay a prorated tax bill on the trade in. Three month's tax on the new one is $302. An almost 20yo Interstate has bottomed out at $50.90 a year, forever. My county's annual budget is just under 3 BILLION dollars.

Bankroll the Endless Teslas of the world...and federal money can't trickle down to community level. Job creation is good but not if it comes at over a million $$$ per job. Spend and TAX...Every municipality is using ever more "fees"(taxes) on every damn leisure activity including kids community sports activities because of reduced Federal Funding... Kids of families with limited incomes lose out because they have to mull over where they get the money for all the ridiculous "activity" taxes...sad. Here in Calgary just playing organized community level soccer in a T-Shirt and shorts should be a universally affordable activity...well it's not...Hockey!!! with all the equipment and ice time?? Parents better have a solid bank account with lots of disposable income. I wonder how many "would be" brilliant athletes out there never got the chance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvqj_Tk_kuM

It will be interesting to watch for the next several months. With their EV credits running out, and so much money due in the next 9 months, I'm not sure Tesla can survive in its current state.
A plausible scenario I've read would be for a large auto company to buy them. The buyer would get the Tesla name and some good EV engineering technology. Tesla would learn how to mass produce cars. How Elon would handle it is anyone's guess.

Here we have Bombardier...the Federal Liberals Darling of Corporate Bloodsuckers that keeps resurfacing from the swamp for more of our blood. When do you finally say no to these monetary black holes with their wide reaching "event horizons"...even sucking in the light that should be shining on the incompetent way they operate. Tesla is that welfare recipient that is becoming "too big to fail". If Tesla is anything like Bombardier get your wallets out folks to repeatedly replenish Musk's well crafted business plan...>>"enviro" subsidies.
