had to pick up my notary stamp today which is in the bronx so I took the 01 interstate Tomorrow I am driving to mom with Alana and the granddaughter, taking Alana and child home in NYC then taking the tunnel into Queens and then the north shore of LI where my uncle is on his last legs. Mom wants to see him and his wife says they need some things notarized so I will do what must be done.
On the fun side, even tho today there were a lot of cars, 75 was the speed of traffic for most of the ride except for when it was considerably higher on the way home. Did not see but a few motorcycles out. They all waved back, another plus for the day.
I do love this motorcycle got a few thumbs up from cagers and kids too at red lights
Unlike yesterday in the afterrain nobody tried to kill me today. Had 3 emergency maneuver experiences yesterday including one where someone came from behind on my right passed me and cut off traffic with right of way going the opposite direction at a left turn where I was properly waiting for traffic going the other way with my turn signal on. He almost hit me I had to gun the bike to the yellow line where I was dead center before spotting the jerk coming out of control from my right.
When safe, I followed his BMW onto the northbound Sprain and sat behind him about 30 yards with my high beams flicking them on and off on till he turned onto the thruway at Elmsford. Asshat !! Never a cop when you need one. Should have tried to memorize the plate.
The abs on wet roads is just the bomb, the opposite of riding on a dunlop for sure
Hope some of you get out today for some wind therapy too

Riding through the insanity makes you know you're alive. I'm glad I only do it rarely though...

Evan, you just reminded me of a bit of trivia.
I was surprised to learn (back when I went on active duty) that as a matter of law, all Judge Advocates of the Armed Forces are granted Notary Public status. No fees, no test, no forms, just automatic. Came in handy from time to time.
The same law prohibits us from getting paid for such service. (not that anyone can make a living out of it)

it was "only" 85F this afternoon - I did a short ride to keep the bike limbered up. Short because my right hip is spasming on me and my lower right leg has been on the verge of a charlyhorse all day since I woke up. Moving boxes is a bitch when you get older....
Jess - I remember the XO on my ship (LCDR /CDR) also had Notary Public status for the performance of his duties. it "may" apply for all officers of O-4 and above (and I could be wrong on that).
My wife has completed the requirements for an NC Notary Public.

Yes Scoop, I forgot it had a wider reach than JAGs. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/10/1044aIt is of course a law made to assist in helping military personnel (and civilian DOD types). I even notarized my own stuff a couple times. The rules on that are not clear, but I made my signature unintelligible anyway. And finding a notary in East Bumfokistan can be a real chore.

So OSS: How hot was it? Thought I'd ride this AM. A local HD dealer was having free breakfast and music. 8:15 it was 94. 9:00 it was 97. Hit 110 a while ago. I stayed home.

Sandy the pool was 84, I think air temp was around 90, the humdidity was way up there so sticky I didnt mow the lawn until the front yard was in the shade around 5 or so.
It was hot enough that when I got to the office and also my driveway I could hear the fan motor as I turned off the bike by putting down the kickstand, then it went off within 20 seconds of when I stopped the bike then I turned off the key/ riding hard probably contributed to that
Being you are in AZ can you recommend a modular helmet where the clear shield will actually stay up and not keep coming down at highway speeds. It is very distracting and annoying on my helmet to the point where I am considering just taking the damn thing off and riding just with the flip down sunscreen part,

Sorry Evan; I don't have any experience with modular. Most of my helmets are Shoei. Open face and 1 full coverage. I do agree on your color choice. I like NY's law requiring reflective tape.
