The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 that Hawaii officials had violated George Young’s rights when he was denied a permit to openly carry a loaded gun in public to protect himself.

A three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit has just ruled that the right to openly carry a firearm for the purpose of self-defense is a protected activity under the Second Amendment. The case is Young vs. Hawaii and the lawsuit challenges a Hawaii law, which says A concealed carry or open carry permit is only issued once you’ve convinced the local police chief that you are engaged in an activity https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/appeals-court-says-2nd-amendment-allows-open-carry-of-guns/2018/07/24/8154053e-8f6d-11e8-ae59-01880eac5f1d_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.ff90efaf6b3e

Tuesday’s ruling comes two years after a full panel of the 9th Circuit ruled that there’s no right to carry concealed guns in public. That June 2016 ruling struck down a 2-1 panel opinion that was also written by O’Scannlain.

Shall.
Not.
Be.
Infringed.

ALL gun laws are illegal infringements on basic human rights.

Every one of them.

Although it is somewhat refreshing to see a sudden outbreak of common sense from the normally hard core anti-American Ninth Circuit.

Whilst a Small modicum of Sense may be showing up BUT "they" Have to be drug back kicking and screaming to reality. And like my Dad was so fond of saying regarding good and/or bad things-don't hold yer breath. RIDE SAFE.

police unions are majorly against this. if people are armed then less police officers are needed which means less power and dues for the unions. then one can conjecture how much organized crime is involve and behind the unions.

That may be true, but I will guarantee that the rank and file police officers are not against it.

I remember a study taken by a major nationwide magazine in the late 80's or early 90's that found more than 70% of the street officers backed concealed carry, and I would bet it is more now.

It is the politicians and politically appointed cops that are against it.

Jim

come to nazi jersey, many local police officers are making 100k and LTs and capts 150k. the unions got them that. many towns allow them to commute from the station to their home in a police vehicle, using tax payer money for their gasoline and wear and tear of the vehicle. I recently saw a police vehicle at the officers house, funny the house was two counties away which was approx., 25 miles away from the station. this is the same town which has raised my property taxes 59% in the last four yrs. their retirement pension will pay them the same as when they were working.  this is happening throughout the state and other states.
which way do u think they lean?

I have a nephew inlaw who is an RCMP constable. He is expected to uphold the law even when off duty. Numerous times he has arrested drunk drivers, both before and after causing accidents on the road.

I just renewed my CCW permit here in Rabun County.

I had let my previous one expire. That one was applied for in Fulton County. Metro Atlanta.

The difference in cost and ease was noticeable.

It's good to live in the "country".
