but we're not talking about the Valk or curvy roads.

I just read about the latest possibly millennial fad.  A mother let her asthmatic son eat and inhale candy infused with liquid nitrogen so that he could exhale the vapor. (Dragon's Breath). A short time later, he couldn't breathe and the inhalers didn't work. She managed to find a fire house nearby where they first tried a albuterol mister machine., didn't work either, finally  an Adrenalin shot helped.  It was touch and go. I simply cannot understand why some wouldn't think about the danger of inhaling liquid nitrogen.

When I was working as an environmental test engineer, we used big quantities of liquid nitrogen to swiftly lower test chambers temperatures to meet Mil Std 810D government specs. The big 50 hp cooler systems didn't work fast enough.  That gave me a lot of respect for liquid nitrogen. It's at a minus 346 degrees. and will freeze anything almost instantly that it comes in contact with.

I'm throwing this out for all of you who have grand kids who might try this.  Not a good idea.

They are soon to come up with a nitrogen suppository. The phrase “Don’t blow smoke up my ass” will take on a whole new meaning.  Wink

Sum-ting not right here! Liquid nitrogen is not stable in the atmosphere and I don't see how it could be infused in anything. Liquid nitrogen causes instant freeze burn on contact with skin. Think dry ice only many times more severe! uglystupid2

Went to a Navy A school in Millington Tn. April  May 1964 So summer was already showin itself. The Instructor/Proctor had us go into the tall grass one A M bout 0530 and each of us-maybe 22 students-capture alive and bring back a frog-which we did cuz the caveat from that Starchy First Class Petty Officer-E-6-wuz-You Will enjoy this little demonstration. Capturing the frogs-test subjects it turned out-was easy peasy Every one of the 22 was late teens early 20s and I for one was still running 3 or 4 times a day. The Proctor was putting lox-Liquid Oxygen-Not what some of ya were thinkin-into an over sized thermos lookin affair that had to be Absolutely grease and oil FREE!. And it-the lox-was creating a bit of ground fog and the valve was frosting up but the level of the lox was increasing in the container. Couple of us were able to put on some Very well Insulated elbow length lox handler gloves our face masks and our work jackets and then eased our frogs into the lox. He had a stainlees steel spoon-chow hall length-with holes and he-Proctor-got a frog for each of us that had put them into the lox then had us throw the frog up in the air over the concrete and froggy literally Shattered when it hit the concrete. Purpous of this demo-Proctor stated the same thing could happen to us she you Not be paying attention to What you are doing and Why you are doing it. Maybe a half hour or less later the pieces thawed out and the blood started running. The temperatures involved to turn ANY gas into a liquid Will HARM severely humans animals and bugs. RIDE SAFE.

Dennis, yeah, with lox, combustibles would really be super combustible. Not as cold a nitrogen but cold enough.

Before our lab used liquid nitrogen, we used liquid carbon dioxide but it wasn't even close to cooling like nitrogen.  It was dangerous in the fact that it's heavier than air and would settle. When we got a dose of that oxygen displacing Co2, we had to almost stand on our head getting it out of our lungs. No one with heart trouble was allowed in the lab when cooling the chambers with that.

Again, we sure seem to be having a lot of dumb arseholes in the world today.

I wonder if that replaces the Mag-Citrate nuclear rocket fuel laxative you get to drink for your rear plumbing inspection and maintenance.

when the shipping guy at work gets in a cryoport and empties (with special long gloves on of course) that stuff out on the loading dock concrete dumping out the excess, is pretty cool to see though fuming up in the air.

I have touched and handled dry ice near daily with my hands and NOT too smart an idea to hold onto it for more than a second.    If rubbed on metal, it makes a cool sound......

back on track:  who in the world makes nitrogen infused candy and why is it legal to make for consumption???  Seems to be illegal to me?
