Any day that you ride is a good day!

Moneta, VA

« on: August 03, 2018, 07:34:52 AM »

A buddy of mine wanted to go riding last Saturday.

He said that he had a road that he wanted to ride.

He didn't know the name or route # but he knew where it was.

It turns out that was near one of my favorite restaurants so I signed on for the ride.

My buddy is somewhat directionally challenged, he kind of reminds me of "Wrong Way Feldman".

It turned out that the particular road that he wanted to ride was a good bit further away than he thought.

But it also turned out that it was SR 80 which is a road that I've had on my bucket list to ride.

SR 80 turned out to be an awesome road:

This map image does not do it justice!

We wound up at Breaks Interstate Park wich is on the VA/KY line.

This is a beautiful place that is about 25 miles from Pikeville, KY.

After enjoying both the park and the ride along US 460 back to Pounding Mill, VA I got to eat the meal that i had waited all day for:

The restaurant is Cuz's:

http://www.cuzs.com

The meal is their small smoked prime rib.

You read that right this is the small, the large hangs over the edges of the plate.

Normally, I would've been in  a food coma for the ride home but the evening temps dropped into the 60's which proved to be crisp enough to keep me awake.

All in all, Not a bad 400 mile ride for curves and meat.

Dang, that looks like a great ride and an even better meal. Is that a baked sweet potato with brown sugar ? I'm still in awe of the amount of superb roads in your area.  cooldude

Perhaps street view does justice to 80?

Google sez that 80 is an easy ride from Pikeville, and also we found 194 near
there to be good.

Thanks for the ride report, nice roads, nice weather, although I think they forgot to cook your lunch!

Gotta ask, which bike did you take?

I was on the ST1300, my buddy was on his F6B.

He and I both ride pretty aggressive at times especially when we're riding together.

On the classic Valk I can stick with his F6B but I can't dog it.

Saturday after the first really good set of twisties he came up beside me and mouthed F* you with a grin on his face.

He texted me this week saying that he had to work this Saturday and wouldn't be able to go riding.

I think that he was telling the truth.  Evil

The prime rib was cooked perfectly, just the way that I like it.
