What a joke that is, so much crap you have to sift through in order to get where you want to be. I had tried it a few years ago and was totally underwhelmed...mostly due to all the junk on your individual site. Well, I rejoined a few days ago and couldn't believe it possible but it's full of more crap than before. Then I installed the Farcebook app on my smart phone...what a mistake that was. Worse than the computer so after about ten minutes I uninstalled it. In the meantime, I get "invites" to "friend" from every Tom, Dick, and Harry in the known universe. I told my girls I'll give it another 36 hrs. just to see what happens, but I can pretty much guarantee at this point I won't last beyond Monday morning. Why would anyone in their right mind think anyone else is interested in every move they make in their private lives? I guess "in their right mind" is the key requirement. And to think the young pup that came up with this stupidity is a gazillionaire.  crazy2 uglystupid2

It's good for watching fun videos.

And......................um..........................Eerrrrrr

I use it because some I know do and they have given up using email

There are settings you can use to minimize the crap you see.

I have nephews and nieces all over the states and it's good for keeping in touch.  It's also good for keeping in touch with friends and local events.

Having said that, it's also full of unwanted crap and stupidity. You can work on the good and  ignore the bad.

Having said THAT, I find that my friends on facebook like my little stories.  Facebook is like all of the internet, depends on what you like and what you ignore.

the biggest thing is posting pics without any hassle.    My .02

If you're using Facebook from a computer, F.B. Purity addon can help a lot with cleaning up the crap.

Yup I run with FBP...need to tweak the settings occasionally as Facebook finds ways around it but if you only want to see your friends posts it can be done Smiley

My parents are on and it's good to have the odd update on there travels.... now my mother is over her back injuries they are back to motorhome trips around New Zealand....and are in Rarotonga ATM posting pics once a day Smiley

They also get updates to what the kids are up to..... I usually update once a week if we have not touched base Smiley

As I finally told my girls, for me Facebook is painful. Start with 17 grandkids....I've spent time with all of them over the years, only one is under 21. But with all those grandkids comes great-grandkids and at last count there's about 13 or 14(at least). I've not met half of them and probably never will, I've seen some pics on FB and email or Skype, but not in person. Seeing all the activity going on via Skype or FB doesn't begin to fill that gap and makes it even more painful. I've not been able to spend any time with over half my family in years, my four girls were rather productive. If we all got together in one place we would need a convention hall....the count is something like 40 plus myself and both wives(former and I are in good standing). All that came from a chance meeting in Denver over 61 yrs. ago with my former wife of 31 years.

The newsy stuff....OK, a little bit goes a long way. I'm not interested in a timeline of all the daily  activities/events but it doesn't stop there. That plus all the junk splattered all over the page that have nothing to do with me or my interests just makes it less enticing so today I just bowed out. There's other ways to share stuff that's just as effective and less intrusive. I told my girls and some of the grandkids....you want to talk to me pick up the phone. If you're too busy to do that once in a while then obviously I'm not that important to you. I got some static and will no doubt get more, that's easy to deal with; on the phone I simply hang up, on Skype...same thing.
