You know Mike, I probably saw BB King play at least 5-6 times in MI (concerts and outdoor festivals), back in 69-71. I see he just passed in '15. He was always one of the oldest performers, even way back then.
Saw Chuck Berry too several times, and he was only a year younger than BB (and passed in '17).
They called James Brown
the hardest working man in show business
, but I think Chuck Berry worked harder than any performer I ever saw. His music was not that great or original, but when you saw him in person he absolutely rocked the house and you got your money's worth.

I was also lucky enough to see James Brown and BB King at separate shows. James had the biggest and most elaborate stage act I've ever seen, if all the background singers and dancers are included. Crazy costume changes by everyone, several times. It was one big azz production. Even bigger than Lyle Lovett and his Large Band. I used to invest a lot of time and money going to great shows in my younger days.
