And by all means, let’s make criminals out of business people trying to do what they do, providing jobs and paying taxes.
I say, yes let’s make criminals of them. If not for them there would be a hell of a lot less illlegals. They made criminals of themselves when the knowingly broke and skirted the laws. Exactly what I thought your attitude would be. I submit there would be just as many illegals, just more crime because they couldn’t find work, or more welfare for illegals because they can’t work. I also notice you are very selective in what you choose to reply . How's this for a compromise: -End birthright citizenship. -Being illegally in this country becomes a felony, 10 years hard labor. -Hiring an illegal without utilizing E-Verify becomes a felony. Either jail time or severe financial repercussions. Repeat offenders, the business gets the death penalty. -Build. The. cursed. Wall.

This problem is hard because nobody agrees on anything. I think Meathead is wrong to assume that the farm corporation must be lying about the vetting process they used. I think f6john is wrong to think that knowingly hiring illegals isn't a giant part of the problem. I think Mitt Romney was right when he said they'd "self deport" if they couldn't get the jobs, and wrong for using a phrase like "self deport". -Mike

They just chose not to use the E-verify system. I submit there was a reason for that. I think your other observations were spot on.

Your first suggestion would require an Amendment to the Constitution. And I doubt that’s in the cards.

We're again getting further and further away from this young lady who's life was snuffed out by an illegal alien, but necessarily. (Stolen from a congresscritter's website, but sums it up nicely) The plain meaning of the 14th Amendment means that one must BOTH be born in United States AND be subject to the jurisdiction thereof. Since there are two explicit requirements, they both cannot be met by simply being born on U.S. soil. The history of the drafting of the 14th Amendment makes clear that the language “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” meant a citizen could not owe allegiance to any other foreign power. This excludes illegal immigrants who are in defiance of U.S. jurisdiction and are citizens of a foreign power. The Supreme Court has never held that the children of illegal immigrants born in the United States are automatically citizens. Because the Supreme Court has not interpreted the Constitution to mandate automatic birthright citizenship, the Congress can pass a law to correct the current misguided and incorrect policy of automatically granting citizenship to children of illegal immigrants. (Along with most of his ideas) In 1894, Wong Kim Ark, who was born in San Francisco, came back to the US after a visit to China. But immigration officials wouldn’t let him in. He protested that he was a citizen; the federal government used the case to lay out the position that (in the words of historian Erika Lee) “American-born Chinese could not be considered citizens if their parents were not, and could never become, naturalized citizens.” The case made its way to the Supreme Court, where the justices ruled 6-2 in favor of Wong, stating that “the right of citizenship ... is incident to birth in the country.”

Liberals keep saying that these murders could have been committed by legal citizens. But they weren't. Molly Tibbits, Kate Stienly and others were in fact killed by illegal aliens. So simple logic would state if these illegals were not here in the first place that Molly,Kate and others would still be here. When morons like Elizabeth Warren say something as asinine as separating illegals from their children is more important than American citizens lives. In fact these innocent people have been separated from their families PERMANENTLY......

In this case were told that fake/false identification was used. I know it’s a big part of the problem but if the government isn’t going to stop illegal entry and deport the illegals already here I don’t see any fairness in making business owners into felons. I’m saying start with the root of the problem, open borders, and no conquences for illegal entry into the country.

The 13th ended slavery. Now there's 4 million black people who aren't citizens, but who would mostly vote for the Republicans (Yankees) if they were, in the South. The 14th made them citizens. That was its purpose. Period. The 14th was written to expressly exclude people like Chinese via the word "naturalized". Read the Congressional debates during Reconstruction... they'll make your socks roll up and down... "The Amendments to the Constitution now pending seek to make citizens of the United States of all men born in the country of lawful age...It makes citizens not only of the pet negro but also of the filthy Chinese." Sen. Johnson, The Congressional Globe, 3rd Session, 40th Congress pg. 1067 (1868) EDIT: The above quote can be found at various kooks-R-us places on the Internet. Here's a link where you can find page 1067 of the above edition of the Congressional Globe: https://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/ampage?collId=llcg&fileName=080/llcg080.db&recNum=4-Mike

But nevertheless their ruling was that birthright was tantamount to citizenship. That’s a far cry from King’s assertion that they haven’t ruled on the matter.

It is like this. It's always terrible when someone is murdered. But it seems to jab a little harder when they are here illegally, no matter how many times it has happened or not.

We weren't tolerant then and with current events and instant "news" we seem to be less tolerant now. BUT I no way no how am inclined to forgive the turd that MURDERED Mollie Tibbets. I stand by my O P-fullest extent of the law. And his barrister Should be the lowest ranking newest member of the public defenders office. Unless of course someone dumber than that can be found that managed to pass the bar on the fifteenth attempt. And-YES-as is Often the case here at The VRCC-and I am as guilty as the next person-we have Indeed at times strayed from the Original intent of the O P. Let's attempt to NOT forget this Beautiful Young Lady was cut down in her youth and whatever she should have or would have become will now NEVER be known. RIDE SAFE.

Have to question the source and bias on this one. The President said "63,000 were killed" by illegal aliens. He didn't say murdered by illegal aliens. This likely includes deaths as result of traffic accidents, industrial accidents and the like. Things not legally considered Homicides. Still the one undeniable fact remains that if the killer was NOT illegally in this country Mollie would not be dead.

...If this guy had been discovered a month before he killed Mollie, a guy here illegally for seven years with no criminal record, what would have been the outcome of his status? If he was in a liberal-run area like SF or even in Milwaukee according to the Sheriff appointed to fill David Clark's position. He worked with ICE after appointment, but now that he won the Democratic primary and is unopposed in the Fall election, he showed his true colors yesterday and said he won't honor ICE hold requests. Bastarge. Anyone who lets somebody go when there's an ICE request should share the responsibility for anything that happens afterwards.

that link was a bunch of horse crap. Who believes anything a computer voice is saying? This is an issue about illegal immigrants. Not an issue of men being told no and not being able to deal with it. We just had a case in Indianapolis in april where an illegal ran over a woman walking to work. Some citizens blocked her in and got arrested. She posted bail the same day and was due in court yesterday for her hearing. Guess who didn't show up? Guess who is missing?

To give up on the concept of citizenship so easily, some people just don't place much value on it. Maybe we should follow the wise council of the last President and be more like France; https://youtu.be/56b_rmUHUg4
