Lets just say the Manhattan scumbags won and the bmw got loaded onto a NYPD truck. Apparently I was a foot or so too close to the hydrant in front of court. But they left the mexican hot dog truck alone that was closer on the other side  Go figure ! The whole of the court officers was yelling at the nypd but no dice and I arrived after the bike was loaded just at 2pm  I never even got a ticket just loaded on the truck !
I offered to pay whatever but was told to go meet them at impound on E141 and Bruckner Blvd (think Bonfire of the Vanities) and got in a cab and got there at 230 and had to wait outside with my helmet and briefcase for hours. Impound is just over 1 mile away.
The bike however did not arrive until 530, those of you who are or were LEO would understand that it got the tour of the 5 boros so the officers could get some overtime
Some days you are the pigeon and some days the statue

I found out from my friend who is the court officer union rep that on the last few Thursdays a unit from Manhattan comes to the Bronx to wreak havoc around the boro and that all of the officers and the engineers at the courthouses who ride have been snagged even some judges. Said it before,  DiBlasio eat $hit  you bastard you are screwing up NYC endlessly and undoing all the good done by Guiliani and Bloomberg- and worse no courtesy to NYS court officers by NYPD  I will have internal affairs complaint filed tomorrow because even the supervisor at the pound was angry that he called every hour and the driver would not bring in the truck with my bike.
I would say today s$hit rolled downhill

The fine didnt bother me. its just an inconvenience.. it was the failure to bring in my vehicle and make me miss the entire afternoon of work and court.

That really stinks, sorry you had to go through that. Are you sure its not a driver being a jerk rather than policy. Because it used to be officers would respect each other regardless of what branch they were in. I also say that because when the with the court officers yelling at the driver sounds like someone has a chip on their shoulder not to stop the tow.

The "fees" required for working and/or living in NYC are oppressive.  From $15.00 bridge tolls, to $205 parking tickets, highest sales tax, high gasoline taxes, a pregnant girl was given a ticket for sitting down on the subway steps of the elevated train.  It was hot and she was tired from walking so she sat on the steps and received a ticket.

Did they charge for a day at the lot or just for the towing?  I picked my car up after being towed earlier that same day and was charged one day storage.  And there's not a damn thing you can say or do.

The jingle should be "I Love New York, Now Pay Up".

So I moved out and now pay six times the property/school taxes than before.   crazy2

Fire departments take advantage of any laws that prohibit illegal parking.  I'm sure NYC is joyous whenever they can flex their muscles to remove autos, motorcycles, bicycles, trucks, wheelchairs, airplanes, or anything else that impedes their fun.  Sometime they just open windows.

Sorry you got busted for a lousy foot over the line, but that's New York (or any urban jungle) for you. Evil
Hope they didn't damage your motorcycle.

I'm sure here in the city, they can't tow until a ticket has been placed on the vehicle. The By-law officers tickets, then calls the tow to have the vehicle removed. No tickee, no towee.

I paid a drop fee, a lot less than the whole tow. I can't see a driver not want to get a few $ just for a quick hook up, and be off to the next.

About 15 yrs ago in Houston my son parked his truck on a business parking lot not related to where he was going and hot towed.    They even had a sign on the lot saying they would tow.     Ok....fair enough, lesson learned..... let's just go to the toe lot and pay and get his truck.      Got to the tow lot and paid $75 and waited about an hr to find out they had moved our truck from that lot to another lot.     Got there and they wanted $75.    I called the HPD and they had no sympathy and said if I wanted my truck to just pay it.   Paid  it then they tell me they have moved it to another lot.     Got there and now I can see my truck.   Paid another $75 to finally get my truck.    What a sleaze ball bunch of jerks that have no trouble sleeping at night after robbing people all day.    Seriously considered vandalism and retaliation against them but never did.

People in the city will eventually miss all that Guiliano did and Bloomberg continued. look for the continuing decline of the Great city. I went down to Times Square last week and couldnt believe how bad its getting!

Still one of my favorite movies, not so much because of how well done it is, but how relatable it is.  He could almost be anyone having a bad day that starts to snowball.

That would have been worth going to court over IMHO.....would have cost more than the fines but would have been damn well worth it to me anyway.

I've thought about pay back several times.

The artistic difficulty is to pay them back with something that is outside insurance coverage.  It's harder than you think.

Sorry for the cheap shot OSS. Never heard of a haul for being close, blocking maybe, not close. Anyway,  I woulda run the plate and figured where you were and had you move it if it was that bigga deal. Sounds like compassion isn't alive and well there. They deal with more people than I did but come on!
